The libs and Leftists didn’t give a flying phuck about the Russians when they actually were a serious threat to this country, back during the Cold War - so why do they care now? Have they suddenly woken up, or are they doing it solely to secure some political advantage? I’m going with Door #2.
Just as a reminder for those of age, or a bit of a lesson for those too young to have been alive or been paying attention at the time, the Dems of the 1970s and 1980s fought every attempt to strengthen ourselves against the Soviet Union and its empire. They fought and killed off weapons systems galore; they reduced defense spending when they could, and slowed increases when they couldn’t. They bitterly opposed any attempt to undermine the Soviets either politically or economically. They had apoplexy when Reagan called them the “Evil Empire” (and he was absolutely correct as any examination of history will show, including an examination of what my own family went through at the hands of Lenin, Stalin and others running the show there). Ted Kennedy went so far as to try to enlist the Soviets in an effort to defeat Reagan in the 1984 election! In short, they were the 5th column, undermining us in favor of our enemies from within...and now they claim to be alarmed by the power of a Russia with no empire, which has been stripped of some of its “republics” like Ukraine, that Baltic states and the assorted (shitholei)stans, which has a declining population and an economy about 1/15th the size of ours. PUHLEEZE!
The communists of the world seem to have regrouped since the fall of the Soviet Union to the US, which only makes sense being the leeches that they are - they needed a new host. They just call themselves Democrats. Maybe they show disdain for Russia because they don’t have control of the wealth there anymore, and they despise the people that do.
