This is simply not true. According to the Social Security administration, it is in the 400’s. The site noted in the article is not an official source, but an online registry for baby stuff.

Are you just looking up the name "Muhammad" to see where it falls in popularity or are you using the no less than 14 spelling variations and combining them? I think if you account for all the spelling variations, the name becomes much more popular.

Muhammad (or a variation thereof) is traditionally the name given to all first-born sons.

It actually brings up like six variations. None of them are in the top 400 boys names.
