I think you are wrong. I think there may be anywhere between 30-50 Dems who are getting cold feet on the floor vote.
Particularly now that Mitch appears to have relented and is willing to give Trump the spectacular trial he’s demanded. Last exit ramp before Downtown Armageddon is a failed floor vote, and they may just take it.
Unless of course, you go by what Gerald Ford said the definition of impeachment is:
“...Ford, rather famously, argued on the floor of the House that “high crimes and misdemeanors” should be defined as “whatever a majority of the House of Representatives considers them to be at a moment in history.”
I go by what the Constitution says, not Gerald Ford: high crimes and misdemeanors (low crimes). But is HAS to be a particularized crime.
Let’s hope that the Rats will face the same fate as the labor party in Britain.

The phase actually means high crimes AND high misdemeanors. The high misdemeanors demonstrate intent associated with the high crimes (such as covering up, destroying evidence, hiding evidence, intimidating witnesses, etc.)
