Pelosi set to send impeachment articles to the Senate next week

Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) said Friday that she expects to send the articles of impeachment against President Trump over to the Senate next week to launch his long-awaited trial.

The move comes more than three weeks after the House passed two articles of impeachment against Trump over his dealings with Ukraine, and amid increasing pressure on the Speaker to drop her hold on the articles.

"I have asked Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerry Nadler to be prepared to bring to the Floor next week a resolution to appoint managers and transmit articles of impeachment to the Senate," Pelosi wrote in a letter to Democrats.

The Senate doesn’t have to take them up. If the Botoxed beyotch doesn’t want to proceed, its all on her.

I think such behavior would cause the Founders to build many gallows and purchase rope.

She will just say it was a rush to judgement by the Senate (Republicans).

It appears McConnell has completed his negotiations with Pelosi. I wonder what price he exacted for voting down impeachment in the way Pelosi wanted. The delay was all about haggling over the price. McConnell is King of Congress.

If the Democrats had taken back the Senate in 2018, what would they have been able to change with impeachment in the Senate if they got over 50 Democrats, because you need 67 votes for impeachment.

@SpeakerPelosi So, does “expects to send the articles to the Senate next week mean you have a plan or can you not plan far enough ahead to be sure?
I bet it it was a Botox treatment, you’d have it nailed down to the second because that’s something really important...right?

When it comes to calling witnesses, the defense has a list from hell, no way the Ds win that game.

Could be a way to sucker Ds into demanding witnesses.

Best outcome for her at this stage is for the Senate to just take a summary vote and dismiss the articles, citing defects, the fact that none of these things are crimes, etc.

At least that way she can wriggle off the hook of the word “acquittal”. McConnell indeed may have extracted something in exchange for that.

Trey Gowdy said something on Hannity last night that made a lot of sense:

The Democrats know Trump will not be removed, and that as incumbent in a strong economy he will almost certainly be re-elected.

Their “impeachment” strategy has always been about winning control of the Senate. The idea is that when the GOP votes along party lines to defend the President, a number of blue state Republican senators facing re-election in 2020 will be vulnerable as a result.

If this is their game, they will try to engineer as many procedural votes as possible, in order to reinforce the talking point that these Republican senators repeatedly betrayed their constituents by voting in lockstep with their party, rather than in the best interests of the people they represent.

I would be interested to hear what other FReepers think about this theory - as I am not that savvy regarding how the 2020 senate races are shaping up, or what the coattails effect is likely to be, etc..

Nanzi needs to get a brain scan to see if there’s anything up there. Her cranium must be contaminated with Botox.

A caveat when getting Botoxed is not to tilt one’s head or bend over for 24 hours b/c the Botox can migrate to the brain.

Overuse of Botox can cause the muscles to become so weak that they can’t support the flesh. The results can look unnatural, and be painful.

If too much is applied to a neck rejuvenation, the side of the face can droop; muscles that hold the neck up weaken so you can’t swallow or hold your head up.

Also has an increased risk of serious side-effects, including difficulty swallowing and/or breathing,

Didn’t she say she would “take steps” to send them to the Senate? That can mean whatever she wants it to mean.?

She'll take them out of her top desk drawer, shuffle the pages a bit, then return them to the desk. What a travesty...

Nanzi and Botox on the brain....

Yipes.

I only heard about a few side effects. Guess I’ll have to hope my wife will continue to accept me as I look instead of a gracefully aging game show host.
