The whole film industry was created by white men. Edison on to Hollywood on to home video are all white men. Anyhow saw Parasite, interesting but total blood soaked slasher ending pretty much ruined it.
Funny how WE the people don’t always go with what you liberals think is the best move. Sorry about that.
I’ve noticed that when the lefty media are short of fig leaves for their hatred they usually go with ‘un-American.’
Yes, the people who want authoritarian centralized total government control of all things are telling us what’s ‘American’ and what’s not.
But remember, Cillizza says they don’t pick sides.
“but total blood soaked slasher ending pretty much ruined it.”
That’s how it ended? Ugh. Now I’m really glad I turned it off after 25 minutes. I thought I could see what was coming with this movie and that was bad enough.
My wife saw Parasite. A neighbor streamed it somehow so no tickets were bought. She said it was awful.
(1) Who is defining what America is when we talk about making it great and standing up for what made/makes it great?
The standard of value is God and His transcendent laws and His natural order
(2) In standing up for America, are we putting down places that are not America?
yes, One can easily observe that America is better than the hellholes of the world
What is un-American about expecting Best Picture to be an American film and let the Korean trash be Best Foreign Picture or whatever category exists for foreign pictures?
Hollywood is un-American.
America no longer is the prime customer for Hollywood’s product.
It is better (for Hollywood) if the film is anti-american.
It also explains why movies with almost no plot but lot of “action” are made. Less translation or sub-titles required.
The left likes parasites as the word pretty much describes a core voting group.
Lol they actually stretch the reference to Sunset Boulevard into racism?
Yes it’s unAmerican to make fun of the Academy Awards. /s
I recently came across an interesting Reddit subdomain - Men Kampf.
“Men Kampf: A journey into hypocrazy.
In the post you’re about to make, replace cis/white/hetero/male people with the Jews and if the result sounds like something that could be right out of Mein Kampf, you should probably reconsider your social justice blogging habits.”
So let’s apply this to that text.
>>”Gone with the Wind” came out in 1939 and focused on a plantation-owning family in 1861 — in the run-up to the Civil War. “Sunset Boulevard” came out in 1950 and centered on a silent-movie star. The stars of both movies were Jews. The directors were Jewish men.
Yep, starts to look like something out of Mein Kampf.
Ah, it’s CNN... irrelevant!
It ended with the son’s return to the house on nights and his father using Morse code... the son had thoughts anyone could have immediately in those moments that he would get rich and buy the house and everything would be fine... but the powerful statement is that those dreams of saving dad by becoming rich is in reality just a wild fantasy, and that while you think that you can do something and become rich is never going to happen. Dad is probably going to die in the “shelter* or be caught and imprisoned...
The number of the Son’s return to the home at night to watch the flickering lights as his father kept out in Morse code that he was eating German sausages and that the people in the house were away enough that he didn’t think he would get caught for a while.
The true reality is without already being a graduate of a top college and having already a great paying job the remaining family members are left in their tiny apartment still scrapping for their own lives.
There is the desperation thoughts of the son, who has a head injury that is keeping him from the police arrest already and judopaxzation of reality.
For Koreans this situation is more intense than any American can react due to CULTURAL but the problems remain.
The dad is actually the best off of the family even though he’s in a self imposed solidarity confinement stealing food at night....
You should finish the movie for the which in part you will relate internally.
Your own internalization processing the movie is why it won the award. It will make “feel” pain and leave you knowing you would destined to a life of need and anguish.
Hollywood cannot be bothered to make very good movies anymore. My husband asked if I wanted to see The Call of the Wild. Are you kidding??The dog isnt real, its just CGI. Heck, at this point, Harrison Ford is probably mostly CGI, too. One of the lines in the trailer was something about the intimate relationship between man and dog. I said, how can they have a relationship when there isnt even a real dog???
Hollywood isnt making movies for US. They are making movies for their followers who love super heroes and slasher movies. There are rare movies worth even seeing anymore. Im really glad we didnt bother with Parasite.
That’s a bunch of bullshinto. Trump was right, it sucked
I got turned off by the female characters getting brutally murdered. The daughter getting stabbed to death was particularly bloody. Sorry but slash and gore at the end was too much.
I lived over six years in Korea and have both Korean Studies and Asian Studies degrees out of 14 years in Asia and 22 years abroad. That said it is a cultural thing you wouldn’t understand. If say so it’s your perception of your own reality and experience that blind you to an alternate and existing reality in another country.
My Korean wife and our boys were shocked too that Korean authorities didn’t censor.
Read the replies to your post. They stayed at first level thinking while you were discussing reality a few meta levels down. Read your bio. Thanks for being in the front lines so to speak. I was thinking of the meme from the Farmers commercial... We know a thing or two because we have seen a thing or two...
I appreciated your perspective.
