Sir David Attenborough has spoken of his "desperate hopes" that a crucial climate change summit hosted by the UK this year delivers concrete action and is not blown off course by the coronavirus crisis.
The 93-year-old said the COP 26 conference in Glasgow carried the hopes of the world, and urged leaders to keep their "eyes on the ball".
In an exclusive interview with Sky News, Sir David called on governments to impose a ban on deep sea mining.
He said plans by big business to "trash" the sea floor could set back efforts to tackle climate change because of the role of the oceans in storing carbon.
Talking about the climate change conference that the UK government will host in November, he said: "I have desperate hopes for that - we've done the talking
what COP coming up in Glasgow is going to have to say is how? Where is the money? Who's going to deal with it?

Indeed the sat photos a while back of China were dramatic.
Most people who complain or are concerned about overcrowding live in overcrowded areas.
I visited Southern California not too long ago. The beach sand was filthy. You could see drilling rigs offshore. There were oil pumps in shopping center parking lots. The air was smoggy. No wonder Californians think we are killing the earth, they have made a mess of their corner of it.
Just a few hours drive east and you are in open, beautiful areas. Miles and miles of nothing but miles and miles.
I am not advocating raping the Earth, we need to be good stewards, but to claim that we are overcrowded is alarmist and silly. We are bunched together because we want to be bunched together. We want to be close to shopping, close to schools, close to hospitals, close to our jobs. When everyone wants to be close to everything, you get population density.
I was amazed when I discovered that the population of Broward County, where I moved from, is about the same as the population of New Mexico, where I moved to.
I have the blu ray dvd set. Came out as high def tvs were just becoming a thing. Beautiful pics and all but my takeaway was animals love to eat other animals. It sort of serves the dramatic need but it also gets tedious after a while. The eco message was a given since it came from the BBC. IIRC the end of it was with shots of whales at the surface which of course is an eco animal supreme. They weren’t gonna end it with some shots of insects.
they should be having teleconferences anyhow
no air travel or conventions
Now the UK has its own leftards dictating ridiculous leftard tax increases, instead of having EU leftards dictate ridiculous leftard tax increases. So everything’s all better!/s

Sorry it was a rough ex!
He’s Richard Attenborough’s brother.
Oooh, Sir David Attenborough, what a deep guy.
I sense a pattern...
Hope your sickness and possible death will not interfere with my scam
Didn’t this creep want people dead to make earth a better place? He should be celebrating.
LOL
The air will be significantly cleaner. Until the bodies start burning. //s
I cannot fathom what world these people live in.
The good news is that since the virus does not like warmer weather, global warming will save us all! Coal fired SUV’s for all!
No. I hope it doesn’t either.
Every old doomer should be REQUIRED to attend.
What problem?
Jaques Cousteau pounded the table for 300 million...
It seems any democrat female takes on the role of America’s ex. Certainly Hillary did. :)
Well, usually cold weather seems to hinder these summits. Beer Flu 19 should be a welcome excuse for the failure of this particular “summit”.
