Ponder this. Our system of government is based on the idea and premise of federalism. Government is supposed to get stronger, more effective and more accountable the closer it reaches and touches the lives of “we the people.” It is also called “home rule.” Every state in the union is responsible for its own disaster planning, which is supposed to be replicated down to the county and local municipal level. The federal government is there through its various agencies to help and assist, but there are limits to how much it can bail out one incompetent state, as it has 49 other states to be mindful of, as well as the national security and border integrity of the entire country, which are its primary obligations.
It has been 19 years since 9/11, where NYC was the epicenter. Billions upon billions spent. Surely, bioterrorism, whether state sponsored or by accident, or by some random act of nature, must have figured into SOME of those dollars spent in and on NY. Who, and what party, has been in charge of NYS and NYC for the past how many years? Even after the travel ban from China, top NYC officials, including DeBlasio and his health commissioner, were urging New Yorkers to continue to mass congregate in celebration of the Chinese New Year.
Cuomo, like every other liberal, has been more concerned with the welfare of the undocumented than the US citizens of the State of NY. His ill-advised green-light law, as one example, created mass crowding at all NYS DMV offices since January. Now he cries like every other liberal for more federal handouts, and seeks to raid red upstate NY of its ventilators for blue NYC. Despicable. BTW, that rationing the left is now complaining about IS TYPICAL of the single payer systems they pine for, which work ok for primary care - but not so well for elective or urgent care, or in a pandemic. Ask Canada, where my brother lives, or Italy or Spain, for that matter.
