If you registered there but didn’t get the email confirmation check your spam folder. That’s what happened to me. I’m good now.

Thanks, McGruff!

And, if anyone can't get it sorted, let me know and I can activate you in admin.

Knowing what Mark Steyn went through, I hesitate asking what the problem was.

You must have been tasked with keeping a stiff upper lip through it all.

God Bless.

Mark Steyn has written about our cases. He has been a great friend in all of this.

Used to be pretty good.

The last time I was there the moderators were starting to grow a spine where the Leftist were concerned.

We never did learn if they found the one eyed boy responsible for shooting Franken’s window.

C’mon over ... you’ll run into me there, except I’m talking about stuff that I have some clue about, instead of the usual POD “hey Americans, check out my staggering ignorance ...” type contributions.

Or maybe more of the same ... my life would certainly be a bit different if not for FD, which given that it had some origins here, means also if not for FR. Mostly it has been better despite some challenges along the rough road.

This is a bit of a tangent but worth mentioning perhaps. Around 2017 when FD was shut down, I wrote a rather sketchy novel entitled “Rough Road Ahead.” It was basically about the misadventures of myself and certain other recognizable persons on a trip from my Canadian home to Nevada and Utah, set in 2017. The interesting part about it seems to be prophetic. There was a plot underway, unknown to me the traveller, for globalists organized in secret conclaves to take over the U.S. government in collaboration with a rogue Chinese faction that was simultaneously taking over their government.

This plot included the detonation of one nuclear weapon (made to look like a missile strike but actually set off from a land base by remote control), and disguised to look like an incompetent North Korean near miss of a plausible target (it went off along the route taken by the narrator, and started a series of events involving him and others as collateral damage of the plot). The plot also included selected acts of sabotage and the release of pathogens in a number of American cities (these were more lethal than COVID-19 but more like anthrax attacks). In the novel’s timetable, these events all took place between May 27 and June 15 of 2017 (the novel was written over the preceding winter).

The rest of the plot was an account of how the Trump government figured out what was happening, how the Chinese government removed their rogue actors from power, and how God decided this was about enough of the free will experiment and brought about the second coming in Utah of all places.

I may publish this novel one day. The reason for not attempting publication was that I got bogged down in editing considerations and the 2017 total eclipse came and went — it was a part of the novel and since it would then be a historic rather than future event, it rather undermined the shock value of the novel’s general thesis.

Also as time went on, I started to realize that perhaps the thing was a lot closer to a documentary than a work of fiction.

The reason why this is relevant here is that the novel had as a sort of sub-plot the rise, fall and future rebirth of FD and the vindication of its principals (whose identities you can deduce from visiting the site). And that was meant to be a sort of allegory for the situation that faces us all in these days of political correctness and globalism.

You were fortunate enough to be protected enough by a stronger constitution (and a stronger tradition of free speech) from the sorts of harm that Connie mentioned. I shared in the travails that beset her and Mark, and one other gentleman who I know posts here today also.

We don’t have the concept of absolute rights of freedom of speech in Canada, it has been litigated into a sort of “competing” right against a number of other considerations. So the way it works in Canada is more or less, we have freedom of speech maybe, maybe not, although I have to say there are probably similar limitations in your country, just set a bit closer to the outer edges of what is legally tolerable speech. We are sort of an intermediate case between America and perhaps the European Union, and they are intermediate to us and China. By the time you get to North Korea you can only say what you want if you’re willing to be a human target for an anti-aircraft missile.
