The events around SCOTUS create an inevitable backlash. There’s no backlash to this week’s 2nd Amendment & gay civil rights cases.
The lefty judges act as if they are mainstream. During their confirmation.
If we have fake conservatives acting like originalists, we get the backlash without the benefit. Perhaps what we could try is some hard-line originalists acting like moderates. Until they get 6 on the court. Then they come out of the closet.
But the bottom line is that the politics of the country hasn’t permitted 6 originalists to be put on the court. Maybe next year. Currently, The majority of voters aren’t fed up with the judicial activists.
I read more of what Dreher has been writing. He says the Christian Right has been fighting losing political battles. And we should stop fighting.
Yeah. What a fine idea. It becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy. He should shut up.
