Rumors Swirl: Supreme Court Justices Samuel Alito, Clarence Thomas May Retire
Breitbart ^ | 07/01/20 | Joel Pollak

Supreme Court Justices Samuel Alito and Clarence Thomas may be planning to retire soon, according to rumors in the media Wednesday.

Robert Costa reported in the Washington Post that the Trump administration was preparing for the possible retirement of Justice Clarence Thomas:

Justice Clarence Thomas, a conservative appointed by George H.W. Bush, is privately seen by Trump’s aides as the most likely to retire this year. While Thomas has not given any indication of doing so, the White House and Senate Republicans are quietly preparing for a possible opening, according to a White House official and two outside Trump political advisers who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss the private conversations.

In response to that article, Hugh Hewitt stated on the Hugh Hewitt Show that he did not believe Thomas would retire, but that he had been told Alito was considering retirement.

Hewitt said, as the Washington Examiner reported:

Hewitt suggested he learned this rumor when “people begin working the refs” this time of year.

“I’m hardly a ref, but I got a column in the Washington Post, and so they start working me about, ‘You know this person would be great if Alito quit,'” he said.

Thomas is 72 and Alito is 70 years old.

In addition, liberal justices Justices Stephen Breyer (81) and Ruth Bader Ginsburg (87) are considered candidates for retirement.

Therefore, it is possible that whoever is president for the next four years could have the opportunity to make four Supreme Court appointments.

Why not six months ago? Would be hard to replace now, just a couple months before the election. >

Almost makes one think that's "by design" doesn't it?

She is DEAD.

I’m sure that there are times she wishes she were.
In her situation she is receiving the best of medical
care, weather she want’s it or not.

It’s the same for Soros, someday he’ll be a vegetable but he’ll be kept alive by his estate and foundations until
they can make sure they know where all the money is.

She's Jewish. Her view of the afterlife is different from Christian views.

It doesn't matter what her view of the afterlife is. What matters is God's view.

ALL are called to repent and accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. Those who reject Him will not enter the Kingdom of Heaven.

Should have done it earlier. No way to replace them before the end of the year.

I expected Thomas to retire last summer. He does not want to end up like Ginsburg and hang around in his 80s unable to retire.

I hope that Trump is re-elected and that the Republicans keep control of the Senate. If not, it could be a long time until Thomas or Alito can retire without being replaced with a far left wing liberal.

With those Repuke Senate yes it isn’t going to happen. The replacements should not get the Collins vote. That should be the bar. No wishy Washy people.

James Ho and Don Willett (47 and 53) on the 5th Circuit would both be good picks, but I’m not sure we have the votes in the Senate to confirm them this year. They were both barely confirmed to the 5th Circuit, and there will just be too much temptation for Romney and a couple other “moderates” to grandstand and allow a filibuster. If you thought the Democrats pulled out all the stops for Kavanaugh...

I would just advise Thomas and Alito not to accept any invites to hunting trips.

I don’t see either man wanting to backstab the USofA by stepping down soon unless they mentally or physically cannot do their job. Unlike RBG who is backstabbing the country by being super sick in a number of ways and falling asleep at times yet remaining and having all sorts of help and assitance, she’s not fully doing her job, but taking up a space just so she can vote against the USofA.

RBG is a biomechanical Cyborg, running on a leftist AI program. She can’t die, because she’s not alive
