Neil hates the fact that 90% of the people who listen to his anti-American political hit piece on GHWB, “keep on rockin in the free world”, think it’s pro America. Same with Springsteen, and his anti-USA trash.
Funny when I heard the songs I knew Neil Young was going to be pissed but hey even conservatives likes some of his songs I do.
Neil Young was the first concert I ever went to long time ago.
Because the songs are good and President Trump doesn't GAF what the artist has to say about it.
“Well, I hope Neil Young will remember a southern man don’t need him around anyhow”.
Within about 3 seconds of hearing it played last night, I literally LOL knowing that old crank would lose his shit about it.
Has Dave Grohl weighed in yet today? Hahahahahahaha.
Apparently he was outraged in 2015 also when the song was used and nothing came of it.
Trump brought that has been’s music back and he’s cashing those royalty checks again. Fine, he can go back to obscurity.
Neil Young angry at Trump for playing his songs

HAHAHAH! LOLOLOLOL! Good.
President Trump: Ted Nugent’s “Stranglehold” would be an awesome entrance song.
:)
I don't understand why Trump doesn't use music from Nugent or Kid Rock or other artists why actually support him? Why give publicity to musicians who want to bring you down?
In other words, Trump will and should likely play more of them, accompanied by a wide grin!
Did the Trump campaign pay licensing/royalty fees? If so Young can FOAD, what he wants or is angry about don’t mean diddly squat.
Dear Neil, anyone is allowed to play your music, its a free country(At least for a few more months that is)
And isn’t it a fact, that music being used by others for commercial or political purposes, is permitted by legal agreements with the musicians and the music industry? And that what is required is payment of a licensing fee?
And that upon payment of the required licensing fees, then one can indeed legally use their music?
This has come up before. Heart bitched about Sarah Palin using their “Sarah Barracuda” music. The Canadian rock group Rush didn’t want Rush Limbaugh to use their music. There are other examples too i’m sure.
Legally speaking, as long as we have the rule of contract law in effect, these liberal musicians cannot keep Republican politicians from using their music.
What a contrast. I heard Fleetwood Mac was happy that Bill Clinton made one of their songs his theme song.
Thanks for the link. Yes, he’s on the weird side — eccentric, I’d say.
But then so is Elon Musk.
I read some other openculture.com articles with Neil as the subject — he’s absolutely right about the cheapening of the listening experience because of the popular MP3 format. Neil has been a leader in promoting HD audio.
And Harvest is a great album, no doubt about it.
That’s nice
Next
And anyone under 60 will immediately turn off the video or leave the event. No.
Rockin in the Free World? Really?! Does anybody actually listen to lyrics before using a song for political stuff? That’s as bad as Born in the USA. I mean it’s a great song, but it is NOT rara.
Pack it in and buy a pickup
Does such a license exist? I don't see the Mt. Rushmore park needing one; does the campaign have one?
And that upon payment of the required licensing fees, then one can indeed legally use their music?
Yes and no. Artists can sue politicians who use their music without permission on copywrite issues or false endorsement.
What a contrast. I heard Fleetwood Mac was happy that Bill Clinton made one of their songs his theme song.
And if Trump went with a Ted Nugent or Kid Rock song then I imagine those artists would be thrilled as well.
I dont know what Neil has for dessert but the band "America" did the song.
