Once they cancelled the State Fair of Texas, which is in October, my first thought was, so much for college football this year.

Well of course Yale canceled. They have cross burnings and slave auctions going on.

A dirty little secret of the ivies is that once you've gained admittance, you're part of the club, and as such nearly gauranteed to graduate; it's difficult for the schools to admit they have accepted somebody capable of failure.

Graduation rates of the Ivy Leagues are north of 95%.

I used to love college football, but uppity players have caused me to not give a damn anymore.

The colleges are going to be shocked about how little donors and the public care about them when they shut down athletics. It’s going to be a big wake up moment for them - and perhaps for the public as well.

But from a precedent standpoint, this is even more interesting. If every time a new virus is discovered, all things shut down in response - we are definitely at a civilization game changer, and likely headed straight for a dark age. You are likely to get one at least every 4 or 5 years. Of course, once the communists take over for good, none of that will matter anyway.

Patriot League could be next.

The arrogant Power 5 are brushing this aside, but this is like the start of the cancellation of March Madness.

I ref High school sports. There is NO chance High school has football in the fall.

The MHSAA is debating between calling off fall sports all together. OR swaping Baseball, Track, and golf to the fall and playing Football and volleyball in the spring.

Football is not going to happen this fall on the High school level.

...it's difficult for the schools to admit they have accepted somebody capable of failure.

During school at State U. in the late 1970s, I had a Summer job. One of the other Summer guys had "left" Harvard to go to a private two-year school (at the time).

The guy never impressed me as an academic, so I didn't know what connections he had to be admitted in the first place.

Supposedly the annual misery fest known as the SC State Fair is going to happen.

I hate it so much.

Interesting. Stanford has just about quit recruiting for football, and it seems they are ready to pull the plug on this year. If they do, the Pac-12 will likely close despite USC and Oregon opposition.

Now the fall sport athletes will have to attend all classes and actually study and learn. No nudges and winks on grades for them, especially the stars..

Thanks to Covid, I think millions of American males have learned that they can live without pro sports. College sports are next.
