DENVER (CBS4) – State Sen. Jerry Sonnenberg has had it. Seven weeks after vandals began tagging and trashing the Colorado State Capitol, he fired off a letter to Gov. Jared Polis asking what’s the holdup in removing all the graffiti, and why isn’t the state doing more to stop it in the first place.

The State Capitol is almost unrecognizable. The granite walls are covered in graffiti, windows and lights are shattered, and monuments and memorials are defaced or destroyed. Night after night, the vandals have come back to cause more damage.

The Governor of GA brought out the National Guard to protect the state capitol complex and other state buildings. No tagging or destruction. But our Governor is a Republican.

The video images of the capitol building are just awful. They call it "graffiti" and state it is a municipal problem.

Then the reporter says the State Police are patrolling the grounds 24x7, yet the anarchists continue to do their evil work.

Then, to top it off, the State Police say they won't put their people in harm's way for "property crimes."

This isn't just a "property crime." It's an anarcho/communist effort to destroy our self-governance; it's an insurrection and rebellion. When the HELL are people going to wake up to that and take appropriate steps? Like shooting the anarchists. That would have been the appropriate reponse 120 years ago.

It is so saddening and infuriating that nobody has the will to go crack heads and end this crap.

The Colorado State Patrol won’t protect state property? And just when I want to support the cops some of them make it very difficult. But the state patrol falls under the Governor so again, the decisions to allow the building to look like 1945 Berlin is squarely on Polis. Coloradans can be so proud!
