I agree with that, but would add that a voucher program of the right sort could break the strangle hold the teachers unions have on the education system.
That is a big part of the problem.
If you lived in Chicago, LA or NYC are you saying that you would send your child to a “large urban public school”? If not why do you wish to force others to send their children to such places? Empower the parents and the children by giving them vouchers.
