He called his dad and was obviously on the verge of cracking up. His dad told him to go to the hospital and have himself checked in the psycho ward. So far, so good.
That is when everything went sideways. The hospital tested him for the Wuhan-400 and decided the fact he had a virus was more important then the fact that a guy with a history of violence was in the middle of a psychotic break. So they stick the violent lunatic in the local nursing home with a bunch of old people. But that was ok because he was in his own room.
That is my understanding. He actually turned himself into the system because of mental issues. Then the authorities exposed infirm and helpless old people to his violent wackjobbery. Pretty depressing.
