As leftists still claim that the Portland protests are "mostly peaceful," rioters last night continued to loot, vandalize, and set residences ablazethis time the apartment building where Mayor Ted Wheeler lives and on his birthday.
A Portland resident who has worked downtown for 15 years asserted that his place of employment on campus is "safe and sound."
"The buildings are not on fire. There is not lawlessness in the streets. Most folks are still social distancing and trying to stay home. Like every other city in the United States," tweeted Nick Walden Poublon, a self-described health advisor and advocate for Portland State University and a Biden-Harris supporter.
However, a few blocks away, a building was very much on fire as a tightly-packed crowd with very little social distancing ventured outside their homes to torch their elected official's home and that of numerous other Portland civilians.
Over the weekend, protestors had occupied the Portland mayor's apartment building to demand his resignation. When the lock-in demonstration in Wheeler's apartment lobby failed, agitators attempted to burn his residence down with children reportedly living in the complex.
Mike Baker, a correspondent for The New York Times, reported that an instigator must have lit off what appeared to be illegal commercial-grade fireworks on Monday night to "celebrate" Wheeler's birthday
While wearing party hats, protestors sung "Happy tear gas to you" to the tune of "Happy Birthday." Others danced the "Macarena." A beating of drums and a pounding of pots and pans chimed in to a whistling overlay.
Portland Police Bureau reported that a riot was declared shortly after as "[i]t was critical to secure the area to allow firefighters to respond to this dangerous situation."

Making new republican voters everyday.
It's staggering how blatantly mendacious the media has become.
They lie.
They know they lie.
We know they lie.
They know that we know they lie.
They don't care.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY! from those you supported and encouraged while giving a big FU to the tax paying citizens.
It’s not that your area of the city is safe and quite. It’s the other areas were the riots have entered the 90 day time frame. What about the people who live and work in those areas? Or do only University Employees Lives Matter?
Can’t believe this Major of Portland is so stupid to let his city burn. Guess the analogy the Democrats don’t give a care about their people. They only want POWER.
They don't care.
They hope and trust enough people believe their lies to get enough votes so their vote fraud can win them power.
C’mon! He put too many candles on his cake! /S with a laugh
You’ve got to admit. Happy Tear Gas to You is kinda funny.
Rioters outside sending rockets up to burn mayors apartment building outside
Rioters building fire on street in front of mayors building
One big candle for his birthday?
He is caught on the horns of a dilemma.
If he cracks down on the rioters, they may primary him, and he may lose his political office.
If he does not crack down on the rioters, other people's property and public buildings will be burned down.
To a leftist politician, this is a no-brainer. So what if other people's property is destroyed?
Property is theft!
Political power is the greatest good!
No leftist politician would ever risk political power to save other people's property.
It says a great deal that Mayor Wheeler is a renter.
Even less likely is that they will come to their senses and demand his resignation and replacement with a grownup, or vote for a grownup next election cycle. Hell, are there any grownups in Portland, or is Max Frost mayor for life there?
Happy Birthday Mr. Mayor, now blow out the condos.
They hope and trust enough people believe their lies to get enough votes so their vote fraud can win them power.

There’s that, but if they don’t they will just manufacture votes until they win
Now there’s a punk-ass white boy right there, I don’t care who ya are.
