Not tedious as much as ridiculously spoiled pretentious status-signalling.
Another sign of how decadently spoiled-rotten we are, that we all need to have “sex parties” (which is what they actually are - gender is only for language).
Not to mention since the ‘80s everyone has to have huge birthday parties for babies and toddlers, never mind their school-age years.
It’s all ego-inflating to show everyone how rich and fun we are....(though they’ll deny the former)
