When it comes to counter-insurgency in their former colonies, the French are not shy about letting the lead fly.

They dropped a lot of heavy ordnance on ISIS in Syria as well.

Previously in Mali, al Queda in the Islamic Magreb (AQIM) had taken over the North of the Country. The French Military went in there and took charge, putting the National Government back in control.

Now they are keeping them under control, and tamping down other islamic militias and warlords in the region.
