GOP senator rebukes ‘dangerous ploy’ to fight Biden victory

Republican Sen. Ben Sasse of Nebraska has issued a pointed rebuke of GOP attempts to object Jan. 6 to the Electoral College tally of the presidential election, warning colleagues against a “dangerous ploy” that could damage the nation’s civic traditions.

Sasse, a potential 2024 presidential contender, posted a lengthy explanation Thursday of his views on social media, including a paragraph by paragraph dismantling of allegations of voter fraud in key states won by President-elect Joe Biden. Sasse said he felt compelled to speak “truth” as constituents and those supporting President Donald Trump wanted to know where he stands on the issue.

“I will not be participating in a project to overturn the election,” Sasse wrote. He said he wanted to explain “why I have been urging my colleagues also to reject this dangerous ploy.”

Sasse took aim at the “swampy” nature of Trump’s fundraising off the election challenge as he outlined his reasons for believing Biden’s electoral win is valid.

“Since Election Day, the president and his allied organizations have raised well over half a billion (billion!) dollars from supporters who have been led to believe that they’re contributing to a ferocious legal defense,” Sasse wrote. “But in reality, they’re mostly just giving the president and his allies a blank check that can go to their super-PACs, their next plane trip, their next campaign or project. That’s not serious governing. It’s swampy politics.”

He put the election challenges being waged by Trump’s legal team in Nebraska terms.

Sasse wrote that he couldn’t “simply allege that the College Football Playoff Selection Committee is ‘on the take’ because they didn’t send the Cornhuskers to the Rose Bowl, and then – after I fail to show evidence that anyone on the Selection Committee is corrupt – argue that we need to investigate.”

This whole sickens me. Trump came into office a Billionaire. He doesn’t need a hack scheme to make Billions, he was doing it making deals and doing what he loves doing. Trump lost a lot in order to serve the country. Unlike every other politician he didn’t become better off. His was a sacrifice. You think his plan was to quit the life he loved go through he’ll, go from being loved to being hated so he can make a few bucks. That’s how thr swamp things and that’s why this puke thinks that sounds plausible to people. Hope he’s first to beg for mercy when it all goes down.

I really can’t stand this guy.

He needs to be removed at the first opportunity.

He just got 67% of the vote. He’s not going anywhere.

They are not stealing the election. They are stealing the country. There will never be another election if this is allowed to stand. period. Rush was right they were out to cancel elections, and low and behold they did.

This clymer Sasse along with fellow RINO clymers Romney, Toomey, and Murkowsk—at a minimum—, are why the Georgia Senate races do not matter because the GOPe is itching to collaborate with their RAT betters.

You are correct, they are stealing the country from the citizens.
Rush has been blind to Republicans working towards that goal for 30 years.
The entire purpose of the open borders/non-enforcement of laws was to flood the country with foreigners to use them to steal the country from the citizens.
This has been going on through four Presidents, two of each party.
As recently as April of 2016 he was telling us that Micro Rubio was a “full-throated conservative” despite the fact that he has voted for amnesty and a permanent Democrat majority and can’t wait to do it again.
Bush League Republicans brought us here, they are really Democrats in drag.

Previous poster mentioned him.
His blind spot is not recognizing Bush League Republicans are really just Democrats in drag.

Murkowsky, Hoeven, Rubio, Tillis, Burr, Lankford, Gardner, Cornyn, Hyde-Smith, Collins, Sasse, Cassidy, Shelby, Ernst, Blunt, McConnell, Wicker, Portman, Loeffler, Johnson, Toomey, Rounds, Thune, Gaines, Barasso and Enzi are all Bush League Republicans.

All you need to know about this little GOPe BASTARD-—
Sasse graduated from Harvard University in 1994 with a bachelor’s degree in government. He also studied at the University of Oxford during the fall of 1992 on a junior year abroad program.[5] In 1998, Sasse obtained a Master of Arts in Liberal Studies from the Graduate Institute at St. John’s College. He also obtained Master of Arts, Master of Philosophy, and Ph.D degrees in history from Yale University. Sasse was selected as a Harvey Fellow by the Mustard Seed Foundation in 2000.[7][8] Sasse’s doctoral dissertation, “The Anti-Madalyn Majority: Secular Left, Religious Right, and the Rise of Reagan’s America,” won the Theron Rockwell Field[9] and George Washington Egleston[10] Prizes.[5][11]

AND

From January 2004 to January 2005, Sasse served as chief of staff for the U.S. Department of Justice Office of Legal Policy in Washington, D.C. and as a part-time assistant professor at the University of Texas at Austin, commuting to Austin to teach. Sasse left the Department of Justice to serve as chief of staff to Representative Jeff Fortenberry (R-Nebr.) from January 2005 to July 2005.[5]

Sasse then advised the U.S. Department of Homeland Security in Washington, D.C., on national security issues from July to September 2005 as a consultant. He moved to Austin, Texas, to resume his professorship full-time from September 2005 to December 2006.[5]

From December 2006 to December 2007, Sasse served as counselor to the secretary at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) in Washington, D.C., where he advised the secretary on a broad spectrum of health policy issues, from healthcare access to food safety and security.[citation needed]

In July 2007, Sasse was nominated by President George W. Bush to the post of assistant secretary for planning and evaluation in the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.[13][14] His appointment was confirmed by the Senate in December 2007[15] and he served until the end of the Bush administration, in January 2009. During his tenure at HHS, Sasse took an unpaid leave from the University of Texas.[5]

During 2009, Sasse advised private equity clients and health care investors and taught at the University of Texas.[16][17] In October 2009, he officially joined the University of Texas LBJ School of Public Affairs’ Center for Politics and Governance as a fellow, before being appointed president of Midland University.[18] While at Texas, he was critical of Obama-era proposals to expand public health care programs. He criticized public option proposals as a step towards single-payer health care and, ultimately, health care rationing. He supported a plan for lowering the cost of Medicare by raising the eligibility age and cutting benefits.[19] He also coauthored a paper proposing limits to Medicaid reimbursements for hospital care for the uninsured.[20]

A TRUE GOPe PUNK!

I’m not so sure.

Remember, Nebraska gave us Chuck Hagel, too.

His Cornhusker Rose Bowl analogy makes no sense...

Maybe, Benny Boy is just stoopid...?

More likely, Benny has something to hide from Trump 2.0...?
