‘Dystopian’ ‘Big Tech Tyranny’: House Republicans React to Twitter Suspension of Trump
Breitbart ^ | January 08 2021 | Kristina Wong

House Republicans expressed outrage after Twitter permanently suspended President Donald Trump’s Twitter account, and Google and Apple moved to remove the conservative social media app Parler from their stores.

“After close review of recent Tweets from the @realDonaldTrump account and the context around them we have permanently suspended the account due to the risk of further incitement of violence,” Twitter said in a statement.

“What the hell is happening?” Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) tweeted. “Twitter and Facebook are shutting down accounts. Apple and Google are shutting down Parler as people try to migrate there. Are we living out some kind of dystopian novel this week?”

Seriously, this is what Congress does, express itself. Job done.

I doubt their grousing has any sincerity behind it.

There’s a big difference between being outraged and punching back.

The way they’re talking, you’d think they were bystanders, ordinary Joes instead of Republican legislators charged with implementing the popular will. What we need are statements supporting the regulation of these monopolistic entities. Not small-time websites like Free Republic - giants like Facebook and Twitter. Nobody regulated minnows like Borland or Lotus - it was always Microsoft the giant that had to withstand antitrust scrutiny. No one looked at the minor chipmakers. It was always Intel that was targeted. The useless mouths in Congress need to do more than talk - they need to act.

Don’t worry. I’m sure they’re hard at work on a sternly worded letter to Jack Dorsey.

We are in the process of a ChiCom/RAT coup. Whoever thought up this virus attack is going to be revealed eventually. Too much bragging rights for the Chinaman or Democrat who brought down America to stay hidden forever . Kind of like we how we know when and where Leo Szilard was when he dreamed up the atomic bomb.

Privately, they are probably cheering him on.

with every abuse by Big Tech i get more agreement on the following.

GOOG, FB, TWTR and paypal should be nationalized and made part of the Post Office.

Same terms of service as applies to delivering mail for content.

I favor more drastic action - nationalization of the big 4, GOOG, FB, TWTR, PYPL.

Make them part of the post office and same content rules as for mail, or postal order.

You really want unqualified AA hires putting up virus-prone code that breaks after every other keystroke? GOOG, in particular, because it writes the Android OS, is a pretty key company. We need the best programming talent on that OS. I don’t think we need to do much beyond pry their doors open. Make them unable to deny service to *anyone* short of the actual commission of crimes using their platforms, just like the phone company.

At least people are speaking out.

Cocaine-China Mitch protected Big Tech with Pelosi.

Seeing lots of usual whining and ludicrous tantrums here.

Attacking the only Reps speaking up is borderline insane. Wow.

Not a tech guy.,

I just know that any regulatory move is going to be subject to regulatory capture and enable worse content controls than they do now.

Freeze the code at 2021 and make it a legacy system ?

Is computer bugs worse than total content freeazeout ?

You won’t get regulation of these entities.

They have the House, Senate, and Presidency.

Yes. I always had an issue with that under the Microsoft argument, as there are always other operating systems to use, but since market dominance is what governs anti-trust, let’s use it on these offending platforms and owners.
