REPORT: Trump Discusses New ‘Patriot Party’ As Republicans Capitulate

President Trump reportedly discussed forming a new political party – the Patriot Party – after “feuding” with the Republican establishment.

The Wall Street Journal reported the following in its January 19th piece entitled “Trump Has Discussed Starting a New Political Party”:

President Trump has talked in recent days with associates about forming a new political party, according to people familiar with the matter, an effort to exert continued influence after he leaves the White House.

Mr. Trump discussed the matter with several aides and other people close to him last week, the people said. The president said he would want to call the new party the “Patriot Party,” the people said.

Mr. Trump has feuded in recent days with several Republican leaders including Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R., Ky.), who on Tuesday said Mr. Trump deserved blame for provoking the deadly Jan. 6 riot at the Capitol. Polls show Mr. Trump retains strong support among rank-and-file GOP voters.

That hasn’t worked in 40 years, don’t know why it would now.

I'm in

Ich auch. Moi aussi. Yo también. Anch’io. 私も. أنا أيضا. גם .אני я тоже.

It's the only way I'm going to vote in a federal election again.

I have determined for several decades now that I would never vote for anyone running as a Democrat, no matter what he says about abortion, sex-changing, gay marriage, or similar sacred cows for the Democrats.

Why? Because anyone who deliberately aligns himself with an organization that promotes such stuff has forfeited all entitlement to my vote.

After the spectacle of the Republican obeisance to the Dems concerning Trump and the stolen election, I now refuse to vote for anyone running for any federal office as a Republican. Depending on how things shake out in this coming election cycle, I may extend my voting boycott to local elections as well.

Am I "giving up?"

No, I'm just finished playing stupid election games. If the inmates from either party are running the asylum, why do something so affirming as voting for any of them?

And once they get supermajorities, immense damage will be done from which their is no recovery.

And Trump will pass from old age.

And the party will disintegrate

Just looked up the Constitution Party of Virginia and did a little reading. The chairman desires to “leave the party of Trump and bring Never Trumpers, Independants and Reagan democrats together.”
Seems like true conservatives aren’t wanted in the Virginia party.

Regarding Alex Keaton, I wonder if Michael J Fox realizes how many young people his character may have steered to conservatism?
I hope thinking about it makes the Bolshevik SOB wake up at night in terror.

My strategy, posted above, is to target RINOs and split the ticket so they lose. What difference, at this point, does a 49, or 45, or 40 Senate make?

So the first order of business for a new Trump party is to purge the "go along to get along" in our ranks.

With the incumbent class defeated, then we can rebuild a new opposition party.

Some folks here are too negative about the history of third parties. Let’s consider two examples.

Theodore Roosevelt started the Progressive Party (colloquially, Bull Moose). The situation was the mirror image of today, in that TR was dissatisfied the GOP as being too conservative. In 1912, Roosevelt, on the new party’s first try, came in second, outpolling Taft, the nominee of the long-established Republican Party.

What happened in the next election (1916) was that the GOP got the message and nominated a “progressive” candidate (Charles Evans Hughes) more to TR’s liking. TR endorsed Hughes and urged his followers to vote Republican, so the Bull Moose Party fell apart. If a new Patriot Party “fails” that same way, with Trump in the TR role, I’ll take it!

The earlier example is from the 1850s. There was an established system with two major parties, Democrats and Whigs. There was a lot of dissatisfaction among Whigs over the party’s failure to be firmly anti-slavery. In 1856, the most recent (and, it turned, last) Whig President, Millard Fillmore, was nominated by the new American Party, and the Whig Party convention endorsed him. There was also a new Republican Party. On its first try, it came in second, with John C. Fremont outpolling Fillmore. As in 1912, the result of the split was that no one got a majority of the popular vote and the Democrat (James Buchanan) won with a plurality.

So, was the result decades of rule by Democrats? Of course not. The old Whig Party and the new American Party quickly died out. The Republican Party went on to win in 1860 and, except for Grover Cleveland and Woodrow Wilson, won every election from 1860 through 1928.

The takeaway: Both of these third party efforts were successful – the Republicans by displacing the previous major party, and the Bull Moose by forcing one of the established parties to change its ways. I agree with the posts pointing out how Trump’s powerful base would enable him to jump-start a new party, in a way that Ross Perot could never dream of.

I disagree. Check and do your research. The FEW he backed (brian kemp, crenshaw etc) were natural born backstabbers. This happens and statistically within reach that a few would be future headaches. The congresscritters he endorsed mostly won in the election.

Trump is NOT GOD that he would be perfect in his choices.

I run a business. It is always a crapshoot that your employees would turn out great...or bad. You can only control what you can control.

I’m expecting the President to be arrested soon.

First, the Senate will convict. As part of his conviction, Citizen Trump will lose the ability to run for federal office, and Secret Service protection for Citizen Trump and his family. Then, a shootout.

No indictment. No trial. No defense. The Impotent State wants to shut up Citizen Trump forever, and assassination is easy when Evil controls the wheels of ‘Justice’.

Then, the den of thieves will fight over the spoils, then the scraps. Dark decade, if we’re lucky. Only one outside Force will help us, one that the Left does not believe exists.

Endure. Prevail. Never give up.

We must fix the voting first.

That box has sailed. You’re welcome to try the soapbox. We may have a few scattered victories in the jury box.
