Politics is a blood sport and it’s easy to ramp up the passion. Good to get a “whoa horsey” reminder every once in while.

Maybe there can be a new posting category called “MMA Cage”, where all that is allowed (minus the FBI door knocker stuff). A standard warning at the top of each thread:

Back 15 or so years ago there was a free speech forum that came about from the ridiculous restrictive new rules that Monster foisted upon the Military.com forums.

We only had two standing rules. The first was absolutely no pedophilia (this bought you an instant banning as well as a call to both local police and FBI). The second rule was no dead soldiers or police (unless it was a respectful memorial post). So the cnn clip of Randy Shughart and Gary Gordon being dragged through the streets or something similar would get someone an instant banning.

So it was pretty much a free for all, and it was still surprisingly civilized.

What does profanity add to any discussion? Except of course filth. I seem to remember a time when it wasn't common.
