How is J and J sure to last as long as the 2 dose ones? Does it have to do with half life or whatever?

I don’t really know how the length of immunity from the one shot will compare to the two shot vaccines. I have heard that J&J has already begun a study to asses their performance, if given two shots.
So they will be able to compare over time.
