Ida became a tropical storm over the West-Central Caribbean Sea. Initial forecast model guidance predicts landfall as a hurricane in the North-Central Gulf of Mexico.

Just about to see the western eye wall of the storm in Houma, LA where a Professional Storm Chaser is recording what’s happening. The eastern eye is not a strong as the eastern eye wall.

Yes, New Orleans may still get some damage, but it looks like they dodged a bullet, the bullet being the eye of the storm.
The eye was going NW, then North. Things could change if this wobbly eye turns east towards New Orleans, however.
