He and Jill Biden will shortly arrive at the Dover Air Force Base in Delaware to attend the "dignified transfer" of 13 military personnel killed in a terror attack at Kabul airport.
This is a military ritual of receiving the remains of fallen troops killed in foreign combat.
The dead ranged in age from 20 to 31.
"The 13 service members that we lost were heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice in service of our highest American ideals and while saving the lives of others," President Biden said in a statement Saturday.
"Their bravery and selflessness has enabled more than 117,000 people at risk to reach safety thus far."
Eleven of the 13 Americans killed were Marines. One was a Navy sailor and one an Army soldier.

It is not a coincidence that as Biden meets with parents of our dead serviceman that a US rocket attack occurred. When parents talk with the media I’m willing to bet that Biden told them as I speak we are attacking those who killed your sons and daughters.

Because he wasn’t there when they arrived, no one from the administration was. He had the service delayed so he could have a photo op, on his schedule, and that was more important to Biden than being there when they arrived.
