Secretary of State Antony Blinken on Tuesday said the U.S. is “not aware” of a “hostage-like situation” at Mazari-i-Sharif in Afghanistan after reports that the Taliban were not allowing Americans to leave.
“We are not aware of anyone being held on an aircraft or any hostage life situation in Mazar-i-Sharif,” Blinken said during a joint news conference with Qatar’s top diplomats and defense officials in Doha.
Blinken did, however, reveal that the U.S. has identified a “relatively small number” of Americans who are trying to depart from the airport. He also said the administration has been “assured” by the Taliban that American and Afghan citizens with valid travel documents will be allowed to exit.

While I originally thought this Afghanistan debacle was sheer ineptitude, now I'm believing it was intentional. There is no doubt in my mind that the Biden doesn't give a s**t about those left behind in Afghanistan.

Malevolent now because any sucess by anybody continues to display and magnify their ineptitude. They deparately want this to go out of the news cycle, any reported activity there, particularly a sucessful one keeps it in the news!
Such statements do not improve the situation for those awaiting departure, particularly when those very people will be quite open/vocal when they arrive in the states.
Permitting US citizens to be used as pawns - regardless their dual citizenship status, some/most or otherwise - is the most heinous form of diplomacy and once again exposes the true colors of those in charge.

Interesting point about not wanting returning Americans talking to the press. Have there been any interviews with Americans already returned? The ‘media’ is usually all over a disaster situation with ‘in person’ interviews, but none for this debacle.
God help us! They’re going to sweep this under the carpet and those poor Americans will be slaughtered or they are bargaining chips for crazy Joe’s administration to accept the Taliban’s control as a nation on 9/11. What a freaking humiliation and catastrophe this bastard has imposed on the American people and the United States. Still no resignations and no impeachment hearings! I still say this was collusion between Biden and the globalist to reward the Taliban with all our military equipment and to skedaddle from there with our tails between our legs.
