Michigan school officials could still be charged for ignoring multiple red flags ahead of the deadly mass shooting at Oxford High School, the local prosecutor warned in a new interview.
Oakland County Prosecutor Karen McDonald had already lashed out at how “angry” she was at Ethan Crumbley, 15, being allowed to remain in class before he allegedly killed four classmates in the deadliest school shooting of the year.
Asked Monday on NBC’s “Today” show if it was “possible that school officials could face charges,” McDonald conceded, “It’s possible, yes.”
The prosecutor — who earlier confirmed that the investigation was ongoing — did not elaborate further, or give an expected timeline on a decision.

yet Alec Baldwin roams free...……….
Maybe that could be used for his defense. “I didn’t pull the trigger!”
Well, that rarely happens. People in power or with power being prosecuted for mistakes (the “Rust” shooting comes to mind). But school official don’t have all that much power.
“Kind of like Darrel Brooks being released on a 1000.00 bail three days before he ran down and killed people.”
It is not the $1000 that is the issue, it apparently was Darrel Brook’s previously evidenced violent mental state that was the problem.
“Probably the main people that should be in the hot water were the heads for the IEP that determined the kid needed counselling”
IEP kids (and their parents) have a large set of rights and parents who are aware of this can pretty much make the school dance to their tune. He can be suspended or expelled but only after hearings that include lawyers. Even expelled, the school is obliged to provide an ‘appropriate’ education, no matter the cost.
“They may not be criminally liable, but they may be civilly liable”
Same with the parents. The MI legislature had considered a law that would make parents criminally liable if their firearms were not secured and were used in the commission of a crime, but that was never passed into law.
It will be interesting to see how they think they are going to charge the parents in this, when there is no related statute.
yet kid’s with backpacks who the school is so concerned may be homicidal that they want them removed immediately is most definitely not the norm.
It’s emanating from the penumbra or something..................
MacDonald...For my next 15 minutes...Arresting school officials will be my next “mission”.....
How about the OB who delivered the kid?
And the OBs who delivered the parents?
My husband’s high school friend was like that kid. Pushed people until he was bullied. Not sure what came first. He sort of looked like the younger photos of Ethan
Maybe prosecute all the teachers at the school and all the kid’s siblings and cousins.
I think you’ll find scary kids don’t get searched as much as non-scary kids.
This reminds me of when I used to work for a school system in Tennessee for the special education department and a lot of the kids in that program were there for behavioral issues. One time a bus driver had to transport a boy who had behavior problems to and from his home in a secluded area in the mountains. She let him off of the bus and he walked inside and came back out on the porch and aimed a long gun at her. She reported the incident and rather than take proper action and report it to the police, the administrators did nothing and told her that she had to go back and get that kid the next day!! After several people became aware of what happened and protested that decision, the administrators finally decided to file a police report and the driver did not have to go back.
When it comes to actual liability, crickets from those who think children should be owned by schools...
I’m starting to wonder if there’s something in the water around here (only partial sarcasm)

LOL!!
Wait! You’ve only been here four years.....it gets better.
“The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.”
He might have a gun in it!
[Undoubtedly true since it is always possible unless mom or dad verified it was safely stored at home]
If he did, he would have used it already.
[the reasonable viewpoint]
The school could have required see-through backpacks.

“At Marjorie Stoneman Douglas High School, students’ frustration has been heeded. When students returned to the classroom in September last year, the clear backpack policy was gone. In its place: metal detectors.”
“There are millions of kids getting federally-funded breakfasts because their parents allegedly can’t afford to buy bread and peanut butter.”
And these parents shelled out $700+/- for a Sig pistol for their 15-year-old son as a Christmas present.
Most health insurance plans cover at least some mental health care. That includes Obamacare, Medicare and Medicaid plans.
These parents were way beyond negligent to the point of criminal.
There was a Harvard study several years ago which contended that liberals do not assess threats very well. This certainly matches their behavior during the days of the Soviet Union. It also helps to explain Fauci stupidly sending funds to a Chinese military biotech lab.
Certainly, liberal teachers would not be expected to understand a true threat!
He’s going to charge everybody. Maybe the classmates that didn’t run fast enough. 🙄
