Mount Etna has roared back to spectacular action after a few months of relative quiet, sending up a 12-kilometer (7.5-mile) high volcanic ash cloud over eastern Sicily.
The lava flow from Etna, one of Europe’s most active volcanoes, was centered around the crater on the mountain’s southeast slope, Italy’s National Institute of Geophysics and Vulcanology said Monday.
There were no immediate reports of injuries or property damage on the inhabited towns ringing the slopes of the volcano, which is popular with hikers, skiers and other tourists.

Doesn’t the volcano know it is actively polluting the environment? I think Congress should pass a law about this.

It’s fine - the Italians bought a bunch of carbon credits against the day when this might happen.
Aetna is the most active volcano and most spectacular in Europe outside of Iceland. But the potentially most dangerous is the Campo Flegrei caldera west of Naples. Heavily populated urban areas at risk, and the whole region is still smoking from the last one around 500 years ago. Last report there was increasing uplift signifying rising magma.
No doubt caused by Climate Change. 😋
Mt Etna is no small mountain (11000 ft) but that cloud of ashes makes it look like a mole hill.
G-D’s way of reminding us who ultimately calls the shots when it comes to climate change.

Volcanoes cause global cooling, because the ash blocks sunlight. I Remember how Mt. Pinatubo erupted in 1991, and temperatures in 1992 were below normal as a result.
