WASHINGTON (AP) — Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell announced Thursday that he will vote against confirming Ketanji Brown Jackson, saying he “cannot and will not” support the groundbreaking nominee for a lifetime appointment on the Supreme Court.
While McConnell’s opposition was not unexpected and Jackson’s confirmation is still on track, his declaration coming only hours after the Senate Judiciary Committee wrapped up four days of hearings probably will lead many fellow Republicans to follow suit.
Democrats can confirm Jackson, the first Black woman nominated for the nation’s highest court, without any GOP support in the 50-50 Senate, where Vice President Kamala Harris can cast the tiebreaking vote.
McConnell slammed the liberal groups that have supported Jackson, and he criticized her for refusing to take a position on the size of the nine-member court, even though that decision is ultimately up to Congress. Some advocacy have pushed for enlarging the court after three of President Donald Trump’s nominees cemented a conservative majority.

I called my two rat senators today.
“How does the Senator feel about child porn?”
One aide immediately said he’s against it. The other was silent for a beat them said he didn’t know. I said you got to be kidding.
I then told them judge Jackson has a weak record and gives unconscionably soft sentences to child predators. She has disqualified herself from consideration and they must vote no.

You’re more committed than I am. My senators are Amy Klobuchar and Tina Smith. Quite seriously, they are about as useless of a pair of US senators that any state could be saddled with.
I’ll give Tina Smith a bit more credit than Amy. Smith worked her way up in Dem circles. She’s got credentials. I may not like them - but she has ‘em. Amy Klobuchar, on the other hand, got into the Senate because of her dad’s name and has been a useless blob since she arrived. Her job is to do whatever the Senator Majority Leader (Daschle, Reid and Schumer) tell her to do.

For all of his huffing and puffery, Lindsey Graham is always an easy confirmation vote.
It’s scary that this woman was a sitting judge prior to this,
in any jurisdiction.
I’ve only watched a short bit of her testimony, but she
seems to have a bit of an attitude, an expectancy of
entitlement.

Wouldn’t be surprised at all.
I suspect she gets a pretty good sum on the lecture circuit,
on college campuses.

Shocked??? Like I was shocked when I was elected to the Principal’s committee of my daughter’s school. The mom who ran the election called to tell me and asked if I had anything to say. I replied “ I want a recount.”
Graham will vote for her, along with Romney. I suspect Susan Collins will as well.
When my daughter was a server, not even the Black servers wanted to serve Black people. They would run her ragged, send food back, claim it wasn’t cooked right after they ate most of it and demand that the meal be comped. And invariably the manager would comp the meal and the server would get stiffed.
Black women were the worst. A single black man would usually tip pretty good, but if they were with a Black woman they wouldn’t leave a tip.
