Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said there was "nothing left" of the strategic city amid Kyiv’s appeal to Moscow to allow the evacuation of at least 1,00,000 people who want to leave.
"There is nothing left there. Only ruins," Zelenskyy said of Mariupol, which has a peacetime population of 4,00,000, in a video address to the Italian parliament.
As he was speaking, the city council said Russian forces had dropped two large bombs on Mariupol but gave no details of casualties or damage.
In a video address, Deputy Prime Minister Iryna Vereshchuk said, "We know that there will not be enough space for everyone, but we will try to carry out the evacuation until we have gotten all the inhabitants of Mariupol out."
Earlier, Zelenskyy said all issues would be on the table if Russia's Vladimir Putin agreed to direct talks to end the war, including the contested eastern regions Donbas and the annexed Crimea peninsula. But he warned his country would be "destroyed" before it surrenders.

Russia wants a land bridge and they have to have Mariupol for that. That’s why the focus on this town.

Why does it seem very odd that, when the country he LEADS is invaded, he doesn’t LEAD his own military to fight off the invaders; rather, he’s traveling the globe begging for everyone and anyone ELSE to stop it for him.
Apparently Russia is still not interested in a summit.
Can any of our experts here tell us where "super powerful bombs" fall on the bomb energy scale? Are they more or less powerful than 'ultra powerful' and 'mega powerful' bombs?

If I were the Ukes I would never sign any more agreements — Until there’s a nuke plume on one of Putin’s favorite Ruke cities and the document being signed is that they leave all their equipment unsabotaged behind. All of it. Aircraft, ships, tanks, guns, weapons, everything. All they Russians in that country get is the clothes on their backs, 3 days’ supply of food, and a blue helmet escort out of the country.

However, did you and do you post things like this re: Donald Trump and Melania concerning the things they’ve done in the past prior to going into political life that were just as raunchy? Of course not. You are a propagandist through and through.

Personally, I think Zelensky is as good a leader as Ukraine could have hoped for.
He’s been very, very effective.
Unfortunately, he’s sacrificed too many to a losing cause.
