Expect a nuclear domino effect in Middle East if Iran obtains weapon capabilities, experts say

The U.S. will have a hard time stopping Middle Eastern nations from pursuing nuclear capabilities should Iran obtain a nuclear weapon, and it must work to repair relations with allies in the region to downplay concerns, experts told Fox News Digital.

"It's obvious that if Iran becomes nuclear, they will threaten the very existence of all the Sunni states and neighbors in the Gulf," Brigadier General (reserve) Amir Avivi, founder of the Israel Defense & Security Forum, said. "Nobody will have the right, not the U.S., not Europe, not anybody will have the moral right to tell anybody in the Middle East not to be able to defend itself."

As the U.S. continues to thrash out a new Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) – also known as the Iran nuclear deal – the greatest concern remains Iran’s ability to obtain nuclear weapons.

The Saudis and the UAE would have nukes in a matter of hours flown in from Pakistan with the delivery systems included. It’s only a matter of funds and the USA offering protection to both. As soon as Iran has them nothing the USA can say will stop either from purchasing nukes. The UAE could even approach Israel they have never been a death to Israel country so for the right price it’s not impossible to see a tech transfer.

At the end of the cold war, when the information became available, we found out some interesting things. Soviet nukes were large capacity and targeted American cities. American nukes were much smaller and targeted Soviet military sites. In the interim Russians modified their nukes to be smaller so they could be used in smaller conflicts and could take out tactical positions. American nukes remained the same because...peace dividend! American nukes are no longer suitable to the type of local wars where they might be needed. (You wouldn’t use a MIRV’d ICBM to hit battlefield locations. You only use it for mutually assured destruction.) Thus, the American nuclear threat is pretty useless in the modern context.

Iran is a different issue. The regime is unstable so if it has nukes the probability is much higher they’ll be used. Their religion is apocalyptic. So, as the regime comes to an end, so too should the world. Once a launch is detected by another Middle Eastern country they all have to launch or lose the capacity to launch. It’s like having a war in a bathtub. Not a lot of maneuver room, both physically and socially.

I want in too. Actually, with everything going on right now (including the NORKS and idiots in India/Pakistan), I am reminded of the Planet of the Apes movie where the apes were jumping all over and pulling down the ICBM. It’s only a matter of time now.

Peter just doesn’t get it.

The Abrams accord and the Negev summit have united all the players against Iran.

Someone, probably Israel has continuously kept the Iranian nuclear efforts in check. The bomb said to be complete in 18 months by W, is still not a reality.

Peter is playing the game being played by the Biden people. Neither Peter nor Biden understand that game has been over for two years or more. No one else is playing

Doesn’t Iran already have Nuclear Capability? I’ve been hearing they are X number of months away from such a weapons system for over a decade.

I believe if they don’t have nukes, they will have them whenever they want, I always believed North Korea is the research arm for rogue regimes that want nukes.

Since Biden was installed, it’s not a coincidence that North Korea has ramped up their testing and probable nuclear tests, just about the time Iran announces they have nukes.

Must be a slow news day at Fox. This has been acknowledged by everybody in the region since 2003.

The Saudis, leaders of the Sunni nations and richest of all the Arabs, can’t stand idly by and let Iran, the leader of the Shiite nations, be the only Muhammadans in the region with nukes.

This is exactly why the Saudis have given the Israelis permission to overfly their country on their way to turn Iran into a parking lot. Because they’d rather be accused of canoodling with the Jews than let the Iranians have THE BOMB. And if the Israelis can deter the Iranians from building nukes, ... the enemy of my enemy becomes my ally.

It also bear mention that for more than half a century the Israelis have been the only power in the Middle East with nuclear weaponry (apart from the American nukes Saudi Arabia sometimes plays host to but does not control). And to this date the Israelis have done nothing but be a good steward of their nuclear monopoly.

So everybody in the region is comfortable that Israel is not likely to be the first to launch a nuclear attack ... everybody except maybe the Iranians. And the other Arab countries don’t see any point to upsetting the balance and risking provoking a nuclear exchange (especially since the Arabs are oh-for-three against the Israeli military).
