Trump could be BANNED from holding public office if he is found guilty of mishandling classified White House records
UK Daily Mail ^ | 8/9/2022 | Natasha Anderson

Federal law prohibits someone convicted of mishandling documents from holding any office in the United States,

Trump, in his dramatic announcement of the raid, did not specifically say what the federal agents were looking for, just that his home was 'under siege, raided, and occupied by a large group of FBI agents.'

Trump could be facing 'significant criminal exposure' if the FBI raid determines he destroyed government records, Rahmani, who is president of West Coast Trial Lawyers, told DailyMail.com Monday night.

He said Trump would likely be charged under US Code Title 18, Section 2071 which involves concealment or destruction of US government documents.

The code states that anyone who 'willfully and unlawfully conceals, removes, mutilates, obliterates, or destroys, or attempts to do so, or, with intent to do so takes and carries away any record' could be fined and sentenced to a maximum of three years in prison.

Believe it or not, I still have faith in our system.

At this point, anyone who still REALLY has faith in the current system.... well, sir, that belief borders on the naive for those who are inexperienced, and obtuse for those who are experienced.

The President has the power to declassify any document he wants. This is just thuggery but as history shows us its very effective.

Believe it or not, I still have faith in our system. I don’t always like the outcome, but it still works.

Well said, thanks.

More than that. Trump won in spite of the best efforts of everyone else who benefits from The Swamp. He was forced to govern the same way.

The GOP too.

We play by the rules, the left doesn’t. And we have to be realistic about this and stop “reaching across the aisle” and thinking that they are even remotely acting in good faith.

It’s all about power with the left.

This is the execrable Daily Mail feeding us BS and trying to convince us that it’s a BLT sandwich.

He picked bad advisors, was assigned a bad VP (because it was thought that Pence would attract Evangelicals because of his squeaky clean lifestyle) and virtually everybody Trump was finally forced to have in his Cabinet was not somebody he had wanted. Do you remember how the Dems kept rejecting his picks?

IIRC, he couldn’t even form a Cabinet until almost the end of February.

So yes, there were a lot of things against him, but he still had this fantasy that people like Nancy Pelosi, Chuck Schumer, etc. were honorable people. I think by the end, he had stopped believing this...but it was too late.

Also, we have to look at the role of Pence in all this.

If he has his trial in the DC District Court with a DC jury, a “guilty” verdict is guaranteed no matter what the Feebs find (or plant) as evidence.

All true.

I noted that Pence in a statement said he was "concerned."

I think "outraged" is more appropriate.

I would suggest that your experience with the justice system is probably limited to what you see on the news.

I think we should give this a few days to see what happens.

What you are frustrated with is prosecutorial judgement.

I think we’ve edged into a world where the prosecution is selective, but the system works. This can be evidenced by failed impeachment trials and the reports on the Mueller stuff. I thought the selective prosecution of the IRS was bad.

But, I know on the grass roots level corruption is prosecuted, indictments are debated, and trials are handled the way they have been for decades.

What is very different is the absolute rabid reactions in the media—on both sides. Those seem to carry a lot more force than in the past—and they drive the actions of politicians.

Some sanity in our country’s leadership would be nice. On that we can both agree.

Quick note: You'd be wrong. However, I didn't happen to know that little tidbit you corrected me on.

Too busy rt now to answer the rest.
