ATLANTA — The Atlanta police department wants to get guns off the street so they are having a gun buyback this Saturday.
It’s part of mayor Andre Dickens’ One Safe City program.

This is ultimate idiocy on display.
I’m sure all the criminals can’t wait to turn in their heat.
Or fire up the 3D Printer and flood ‘em with plastic 9mm toys.
Its so hard to watch people do the same old policies that have never worked before. People have done this a thousand times. It never stops guns from being in the hands of bad guys.
Back in the seventies we had a mayor here in Chicago who wanted to stop the rat infestation. She had a one dollar bounty on every dead rat. She budgeted a million dollars for the scheme. In the first week the million dollars was gone. And the city found several individuals who set up rat incubators.
To this day rats are all over Chicago. But it wasn’t until the city started fining and even shutting down restaurants and other businesses that supported the rat population, that rats stopped being seen during the daylight. The city sewers are home to billions of rats. But for the most part, rats keep in the shadows. And we have lots of small well fed carnivores.
You can analogize this at will for Atlanta’s gun issues.
As we all know, these events are not buybacks. The Atlanta police department did not sell the guns, and cannot buy them back. I wish the media would understand that words matter.
As I’ve said before. The criminals turn in their stolen guns, get $100 and then go out and steal another gun.

What a waste.I’m sure a lot of these guns were perfectly good guns that could have been sold to a dealer for a lot more money.
