Our vision and mission for the College of Education at California State University, Fullerton is to cultivate educators who are prepared to provide just, equitable, and inclusive education in birth-through post-secondary settings. Theory-to-practice experiences, including clinical practicums, fieldwork, and student teaching, are major components of effective teacher preparation. Therefore, it is critical that we place teacher candidates in districts that support their growth and development throughout the program. The placement of student teachers in Placentia Yorba Linda Unified School District (PYLUSD), at this time, would place us in conflict with our goals to prepare teacher candidates with pedagogical approaches rooted in diversity, equity, inclusion, social justice, race and gender theories, cultural linguistic studies, social emotional well-being, and tenets of Critical Race Theory,.
Currently, we have 6 student teachers working in the PYLUSD, a decrease from our typical 70 to 80 and have paused new placements for the academic year. We plan to support these students toward program completion.
We welcome the opportunity to strengthen our long-standing partnership with PYLUSD and to work with the district toward providing a just, equitable and inclusive education – one that promotes transformative pedagogical approaches, values freedom of thought and expression, constructively engaging and critically analyzing multiple ideas and perspectives, in an effort to provide enriched learning experiences for the diverse student population in educational settings.
Sounds like a win for the school district.

True, and there are many more applicants than available teaching positions in that school district. There are so few openings in the districts that actually have involved parents, well-behaved students and a teaching environment conducive to learning that the left-wing cities scramble for any teachers. While these “racist” more affluent school districts have no trouble filling their spots with the best teachers. It is remarkable how brazen CSUF is about their indoctrination of their students. Hopefully school districts will screen those applicants a little bit more rigorously if their application ever lands across the desk of a non-woke hiring coordinator.
My would-be response:
Dear Fullerton graduates, your participation in our education programs are welcome, but the extremist radical ideologies you appear to have picked up are not.
At such time as you shed that noxious and counter-productive baggage you will be afforded an interview about possible placement in our intern programs.

The district should blackball all applicants from Cal State Fullerton to protect the children in their care.
Time to get rid of “education” degrees. Anyone who has a BA with with truly liberal arts program should be able to teach at the elementary and high school levels. That was the original intent of the degree in the first place. The MA degree was originally awarded after three years of successfully teaching as an apprentice with a BA.
I live in Yorba Linda and look forward to voting for MORE school board members who will ban the teaching of CRT in our schools.
