Biden calls prominent New York rabbi and offers him an 'open door to my administration' if he throws his support behind top Democrat Sean Patrick Maloney in his tight House race

President Biden called a prominent New York rabbi and offered him unfettered access to the White House in exchange for throwing his support behind Rep. Sean Patrick Maloney, chair of the Democrat's campaign arm who is locked in a tight race.

Tasked with leading Democrats in their fight to keep the House, Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) chair and New York Rep. Maloney must now focus on his own race against Republican assemblyman Mike Lawler on Nov. 8. It has turned into a 'toss-up' race, despite Biden carrying the district by 10 points.

'You will have an open door to my administration,' Biden promised Rabbi David Twersky in a 15-minute phone call, according to Rockland Daily. Jewish Forward reporter Jacob Kornbluh confirmed the call.

Twersky is the chief rabbi for the Hasidic sect in New Square, N.Y. in the 17th Congressional District.

New York-based political strategist Hank Sheinkopf said Twersky is revered by Hasidic Jews in New Square and they will heed his advice and vote for Maloney if he tells them to do so.

Sheinkopf also said the call signals trouble for Maloney.

'You don't have the President of the United States call someone for support unless you're in trouble in a political campaign,' he told the New York Post. 'If you're up by 10 points, you don't ask the president for help.'

'For all his fake bravado, Sean Patrick Maloney sure is behaving like a very scared man,' National Republican Congressional Campaign (NRCC) spokesperson Samantha Bullock told DailyMail.com. 'Maloney's fellow vulnerable Democrats are probably less than thrilled their DCCC chair is using whatever political capital he has left to try and save himself.'

Maloney's campaign could not be reached for comment on the matter.

The rabbi wouldn't "have to be" the source.

White House calls are rarely confidential. It's on the agenda.

The Chief of Staff (Ron Klain), who ever's pulling Biden's strings (i.e., the person who put the rabbi's name on the list to be called -- someone at the DNC?), many of their support staff and assistants, the White House rumor grapevine, plus who knows how many people the rabbi's end knew -- all are possibilities.

records of the callls from WH might be public, but details of conversation that make the President look bad wouldn’t normally be revealed by the WH staff IMHO unless you think the leaker is a GOP mole.

And yes, the details could have been leaked by the rabbi to an associate who then leaked them to someone else who leaked them to someone else etc. etc. etc. But the original source of the details would probably have to be the rabbi IMHO.

Just based my take on the probable leaker on logic and politics. But of course, anything is possible.

“Open door” means what? If Rabbi Twersky is stuck on a difficult blat of Gemara he can call Joe to explain it?

The 82-year old Grand Rabbi has a lot of protectors, a ‘court’ like kings of old. There were probably more than a few in-person witnesses to the conversation.

A Congressional District is around 750,000 people. Begging for the vote of a bloc of a few thousand means it’s a very close race.

Militant homosexual Maloney is desperate.

A Congressional District is around 750,000 people.

But how many are eligible to vote?

And of that number, how many are registered?

And of that number, how many are likely voters?

Far fewer than 750,000.

Begging for the vote of a bloc of a few thousand means it’s a very close race.

Elections are won by collecting blocs of thousands, and hundreds, and even dozens. A union rep here. A rabbi there. A community activist here. A nonprofit CEO there. Etc.
