Amendment 2, a measure to change Kentucky's constitution in regard to abortion, was rejected by voters on Tuesday, the Associated Press reports.
The amendment would have added language in the state constitution making it clear that neither abortion nor government funding for the procedure would be a right.

That’s how it was phrased by the Left. Taking away abortion rights, it was enough to get young women to the polls.
I don’t think voters like blanket laws when it comes to abortion. They don’t want it to be a universal right, they also don’t want it to be completely banned. I think people want what was promised: safe, legal and rare, emphasis on the rare.

I believe the country is pagan enough to vote for this. The fact that it was voted on and not a SCOTUS decision means there is room for discussion and change in future generations. It has to stay a state issue.
The piece of legislation was written so poorly I suspect a number conscientious voters nixed it. Here is a significant problem in a number of red states. There a lot of not very bright types at state legislature levels who interact with ignorant holy joe types and product legislation that is a bad parody. Dimwit pentecostals are about the worst where I live but conscientious a lot of combinations of the lazy/dumb legislators and ignorant/fanatic (I have been told I would go to hell for not supporting some piece of legislation by these hedge preachers. These are the type who devote a whole sermon to the ‘damnable evil of vasectomies’.
With some commnsense this bill should return in the next cycle and pass.
The wording was not clear. I heard several people saying they were voting against it, even though they are anti-abortion.

If the wording was not clear, it would have been unclear to the same proportion of voters on both sides of the issue.
I voted for the amendment. At my polling location almost as an after thought the poll workers mentioned as I was finishing my ballot and about to cast it there are two amendments questions on the back of the ballot.
I don't think so. I think the "default" position on amendments is "no". If people don't understand it, they just vote NO.
I voted for it. But, I'm not distressed by it going down. It doesn't change anything.
Ours was the LONGEST ballot I have ever seen. My Lord, there were SO MANY judges. Practically ALL of them women, and most running unopposed.
NO ONE was running for County Surveyor. I started to write in my OWN name... but, I was afraid I might win!
It reads clearly:
“Are you in favor of amending the Constitution of Kentucky by creating a new Section of the Constitution to be numbered Section 26A to state as follows: To protect human life, nothing in this Constitution shall be construed to secure or protect a right to abortion or require the funding of abortion?”
Yes... it reads clearly. But, what does it MEAN?
What is the impact?
It’s so easy to change the constitution... what difference would it have made? It could always be changed again.
The amendment was worded as a double negative. Maybe the voters couldn’t figure out what it actually meant.
