Democrats Have Mastered Mail Balloting. Republicans Will Pay if They Fail To Step Up
Washington Examiner ^ | 11/11/2022 | Salena Zito

PITTSBURGH — The first thing Allegheny County Republican Chairman Sam DeMarco saw on election night after the polls closed was the more than 100,000 votes from his home county that dropped for Democrat John Fetterman through mail-in ballots. Although he wasn’t sure just yet that that meant the race was lost, he also knew Republicans needed to fix something in the party’s way of doing things going forward.

“Those initial large dump of voters were mail-in ballots from Democrats,” he said of the advance voting that began in 2020 during the pandemic. Democrats embraced it with gusto, but Republicans shied away.

“The biggest takeaway from Tuesday night is that Republican attitudes in regard to mail-in voting needs to change," he continued. "Right now, it’s like we’re running a 100-yard race against the Democrats and giving them a 45-yard head start. Both parties have limited resources, but while they work during the 50 days of early voting collecting and banking early votes ... we’re just collecting promises to show up on Election Day; it’s not sustainable, and Democrats get better at it every cycle."

When all the dust is settled, it will be interesting to see what the percentage of mail-in votes for Democrats was in the final count; anything over 40% is a real problem for Republicans going forward if they don’t right their mail-in ballot ship.

Before the pandemic, Pennsylvania voters needed a valid excuse to cast an absentee ballot. Act 77, which was signed on Oct. 31, 2019, and went into effect on Jan. 1, 2020, added no-excuse mail-in voting up to 50 days before an election.

It also changed how these ballots are canvassed, moving from the individual precincts or polls to a central canvassing facility.

In this state, no one really thought it would be a big deal. Most of the people who used absentee balloting were bedridden or traveling out of state on Election Day. Then the pandemic hit.

Although states such as Arizona and Oregon had been voting by mail forever — and for the most part, they did it quite well — then-President Donald Trump scoffed at it for his voters. While Democrats encouraged their voters to cast their ballots by mail, Trump discouraged it, warning that it was a vessel for voter fraud. That gave Democrats the advantage.<-b>

Republicans in Pennsylvania and also across the country are still reeling from Tuesday’s disappointing finish. They say that if this is the new normal for voting going forward, then Republicans need to step up and get their voters to do the same — otherwise, they will find themselves on the wrong end of big elections going forward.

Currently, Democrats are miles ahead of Republicans at targeting specific races and voters. Through mail balloting, they put those voters in the bank early. This year, they executed and focused and performed; that's why they have probably saved their U.S. Senate majority, based on vote counts as of this writing. It's why they were able to limit Republican gains in the House to maybe just a handful, or maybe none at all.

A lot of pollsters missed this, because Democrats had timed a lot of their advertising to hit right when the early voting began — especially their messages on abortion. This paid dividends. They banked their voters and created a mirage for analysts who thought the races were closer than they calculated.

Republicans can complain about the current rules all they want, but what they need to do is wake up and start competing with the Democrats where they are. Otherwise, they're just leaving winnable races on the table.

Florida Republicans certainly have figured it out. In 2018 and 2020, the Democrats went into Election Day with more ballots cast than Republicans in early voting. This year, Florida Republicans flipped that on its head. Republicans in other states should take note.

Want to keep whining about cheating? Or do the hard work here?

For the Nina Burleigh Wannabe's here:

"Although states such as Arizona and Oregon had been voting by mail forever — and for the most part, they did it quite well — then-President Donald Trump scoffed at it for his voters. While Democrats encouraged their voters to cast their ballots by mail, Trump discouraged it, warning that it was a vessel for voter fraud. That gave Democrats the advantage."

Florida Republicans had MORE MAIL-IN BALLOTS than Dems did.

As I said in a previous post, ALL of them have to go, including Trump. He has no idea how to handle today's voting realities.

RULES, RULES, RULES

This is very simple, if you can't change the RULES to your favor, PLAY BY THEM, better than the other team does! Anyone who grew up on sports understands this.

the UniParty solution to “their” voting problem....

Its election DAY...not election week...or election month;

Federal law should mandate state holidays any time elections are held for state or federal office

Well, it is a form of cheating, but hey, we can do that !

The country’s gone anyway.

Thank you for gas lighting us. The 2020 election was rigged in real time while we watched. The 2022 mid term has been stolen as we watched. The most evil people on earth are running our country, killing us and they don’t care if we know.

This is how bad it is...

When they don’t have enough fraudulent ballots to win...

They stop counting and ship them in...

From a printing center...

and you have video of them doing it...

Then you show it to the media...

Then the media ignores it...

Then they laugh at you...

Gaslighting you? Salena Zito was the ONLY national journalist to call 2016 correctly.

Keep burying your head in the sand. Or even better, blame the Russians for interfering. Maybe that will make you feel better.

It’s not just mail-in.

It’s mail-in, early voting, RCV, RCV-enabled voting machines.

Without getting rid of all of those, we stand zero chance of restoring the republic at the ballot box.

That is an excellent point that is grossly overlooked.

Using Florida as the example in this election is to play the derps' game. They weren't gonna win Florida no matter what, so they decided to let THOSE elections go, unencumbered by the massive vote fraud found elsewhere.

In this way, they could spin it exactly like they're spinning it now. Trump's fault. Make DeSantis the anti-Trump replacement. Republicans ALWAYS get more mail-in ballots than Democrats. They just get tossed, replaced, or engulfed in massive fake Dem ballots.

Don't believe ANYTHING you read about this election. Its all bushito, spin, and lies. For once, my people need to stop being suckered.

The people's voice has ot been heard and we have an illegitimate government.

Changes needed - Voter ID, only verified absentee ballots, signature verification, count only on election day (not after), jail time promised for voter fraud - just like Florida.

You’re not getting rid of them, and if you do, it comes back to the SAME THING

RULES, RULES, RULES

How many times do I have to say it?

This is a country with close to 200 MILLION eligible voters. They are not going to stand on a line the whole day on one day.

We know HOW the game is played, by these RULES. It’s like a baseball team that refuses to use the DH and insists on letting the pitcher hit because they hate the rules change.

Florida has about three weeks of voting, what’s the issue there?

The Florida GOP has its act together, the RNC DOES NOT.

STOP WHINING.

If an election is crooked, there’s no point spending any effort trying to get out the vote.

If an election is not crooked, let the Democrats keep winning until the voters have had enough Communism.

Either way, trying to get Republicans to beat Democrats at getting out the vote is not going to work. Republicans have better things to do, like going to work and raising a family.

Instead, Republicans need to advocate for the tried and true methods of ensuring fair elections. If the voters want fair elections, maybe someday they’ll vote for them.

It would also help if your election cycle platform wasn’t . . .

WE’RE NOT DEMS

What a loser strategy.

Take the best of MAGA and build on it

Can anyone name one Republican Platform item?

Where’s the DETAILED items on Border Control? Did anyone see a commercial or mailer on it? Or was it just, Secure Our Borders?

Bringing Manufacturing Home? Any details on how to do it?

Stop Getting Involved in Foreign Wars? Anyone see an ad on that?

What the f**k were we running on?

IF that is indeed the case then we as a nation no longer deserve the republic our forefathers fought and died to establish

My family has been on these shores for coming up on 400 years.

We've seen the best and worst of times.

This is getting bad.

But the fact that Trump still terrifies Deep States, plural, gives me great hope.

I'm not ready to stick a fork in us yet.

We're not going to get rid of any of this stuff until we've taken back statehouses and state legislatures.

Democrats have passed laws that essentially give them a month to canvass the ghettos, housing projects, and nursing homes to pick to ballots from low-info voters who probably don't even know who's running.

This has given them a tremendous advantage and they're not going to give it up without a fight.

The letter after the name means jack anymore.

The only reason political parties still exist is to give voters the illusion of choice.

A pol is either loyal to our former republic or to Deep State.

Most of our pols have shown themselves to be Deep State.

Stop getting humg up on party.

Find and run MAGA candidates in every party.

Until we do that we’re fighting half a battle.

I agree completely.

On 11/7 (the day BEFORE election day), I posted this:

“I haven’t heard Republican politicians talk about what they intend to do AS A PARTY after the election. That’s a huge missed opportunity.”
