Most voters would rather see Gov. Ron DeSantis, R-Fla., as the GOP nominee in 2024 over former President Donald Trump, according to a new poll that also found the majority of Democrats do not think President Biden should seek re-election next cycle.
When asked who they would rather see as the 2024 GOP nominee, DeSantis or Trump, 63% said DeSantis would have their vote, while only 36% were rooting for Trump to win the primary.
A Marquette Law School poll revealed that in a hypothetical 2024 matchup between DeSantis and Biden, the two candidates were tied among registered voters, both receiving 42% support. About 11% said they would choose a different candidate.
The results reflect a major increase in support for DeSantis compared to a January Marquette poll where he received only 34% support compared to Biden's 43%. In a March poll from the university, the Republican governor began gaining momentum, locking in 35% support and eventually hitting 38% support in a September survey.

But of course, it's nothing but utter BS, and has no truth to it at all. They are just trying to sway those who are easily led to an opinion they want people to migrate to.
They polled Paul Ryan and the Murdochs.
This is almost verbatim what I was going to write. There has to be a lot of us who appreciate what he did against tremendous treachery from the media, the deep state and his own party. But good grief Don, your lack of self-control cost the country dearly in 2020. Time to go away.
I think the poll was taken in the FOX lunch room, just before the big wigs made a decision about upcoming bonuses.
Fox and Paul Ryan want to pick and then push a candidate for us.
No thanks. As far as I’m concerned, they are only make it worse for their guy.
So the poll was of ALL voters, not Republicans? That would make it useless in determining who would win a Republican primary.
“Voters.” Probably about half the voters polled are Democrats.
wow that didnt take long
he only declared like a week ago
i think they already had it in the can
No way can multiple polls for months (up until recently) have a huge lead for Trump over DeSantis switch now to showing DeSantis ahead.
Couldn’t agree more
Barring a catastrophic blunder, DeSantis has nowhere to go but up.
Trump, on the other hand, has no realistic path to the White House.
Them's the facts.
It will be Trump in ‘24. I’m not a Desantis hater like all the cool kids are, but he wouldn’t get it from Trump in ‘24. And like others have said, he’d be better off getting on his good side, backing him and getting ready for ‘28.
Trump won’t give in under pressure. Anyone else is an unknown.
Pay for performance. Trump performed exceptionally well as President. The big markers are, or should be, employment, inflation, court picks, and national security. A+ in all areas.
Full disclosure: I was censored on this website as a Cruz supporter. That was then. This is now.
Faux. ‘Nuff said.
It’s fox news....RINO home grounds
A lot of voters, like myself, were waiting to see how the midterms played out.
If Trump's hand-picked candidates steamrolled their way over their competitors, there'd be nothing stopping Trump.
Instead, in the swing states Trump will need to win in '24, there was an almost complete rejection of Donald Trump in the loss of his candidates. This was most pronounced in massive defections of independent voters to the Democrats.
Now there are many here who continue to hold on to this fantasy of Trump winning back all the crucial battleground states that he lost in '20, --the states that his hand-picked candidates lost in '22 but for a growing number of Republican voters, the reality is obvious.
Trump has no path to the White House.
It's time to look elsewhere.
I don’t think Biden should have EVER run. For anything.
I do like DeSantis as I like Trump. But I suspect these polls are designed to splinter Republicans.
I still don’t see DeSantis running in 2024. He has plenty of time for that.
“No way can multiple polls for months (up until…”
Depends on what the definition of “poll” is
This is Paul Ryan lashing out. They’re acting frightened.
I agree, Trump has lost support and is a clear underdog in Michigan and Pennsylvania. Wisconsin, Arizona and Georgia will be very difficult for him as well.
DeSantis has much better chance.
