I won’t be shocked if Nancy Pelosi becomes Speaker.

That’s it “Freedom” caucus, make the GOP match the view you want everyone to have of it - weak; yea, that’s real helpful - NOT.

I like Jim Jordan, and I’d rather have him be speaker, but if he only got 7 votes and he isn’t in discussion with a lot of members for their future votes, he probably needs to do the right thing to make the peace with the whole floor and get the republicans united behind one speaker.

Just give to gavel to Lee Zeldin. His strong showing in NY paved the way for other NY Republicans and won the House for the GOP.
Lee Zeldin is the perfect center-right Republican who'll unit all GOP factions.

Is it possible to get rid of “Go along to get along”, business as usual house “My way or the highway” leaders?
Maybe. One can pray.
Somehow I don’t think things have gotten bad enough yet
for that to happen.

Why is there a second vote. More arm twisting and back scratching?
Another under ‘Should not be necessary’ to vote more than once.

IIRC, Lizard Cheney (D-WY) nominated him the last time...

A total of 19 Republicans voted against McCarthy on the first ballot.
Damn, that's nothing to shake a stick at.

Good.
Even if he ends up winning it provides a dose of reality.
It’s great. I hope it goes many votes.

I’m ok with people voting their first choice in round I as long as, in round II, they vote for a Republican.
Should we have an Alaska situation, where a few moderate Rs join with the Democrats to organize the House, that would be a disaster.

I love seeing the McCarthy fanboys making wild prognostications. They sure do love their RINOs. Keep spreading the fear porn fellas. McCarthy is cooked.

I would say a duel between McCarthy and Gaetz is in order.
