A knife sheath discovered next to one of the four Idaho students killed in November had DNA on it that matched DNA found on trash from the home of the criminology graduate student charged in the stabbings, investigators allege in court records released Thursday.
Additionally, a phone registered to that man, Bryan Kohberger, was near the victims’ home at least 12 times between June and the day of the killings, according to an affidavit of probable cause. One of the surviving housemates saw a man dressed in black and wearing a mask leaving the home around 4 a.m. that day, the document says.
The new details offer a glimpse into what authorities say happened on the night they allege that Kohberger, 28, stabbed the University of Idaho students in their sleep.
The killings shocked the college town of Moscow, Idaho, and prompted a seven-week search for a suspect that drew thousands of tips and involved Idaho State Police and the FBI. Kohberger’s arrest Friday at his parents’ home in northeast Pennsylvania, more than 2,000 miles from the killings, marked a major break in the case.
Kohberger told a Pennsylvania judge on Tuesday that he would not fight extradition to Idaho, where authorities plan to prosecute him on four counts of murder and a burglary charge. His public defender in Pennsylvania, Jason LaBar, previously said that Kohberger expects to be exonerated.

Dad may well have had a clue. In my opinion, he has to be aware of his son’s bizarre behaviors for his entire life. There is no way he didn’t have suspicions about these murders. They been the singular most reported news item for weeks.
Not defending this guy but in a small town his cell could have pinged 12 times in 5 months easily.
I am almost everywhere in my town quite often over a 5 month period. So the cell pings could be easily explained.
so one of the survivors saw a strange man with a mask at 4 am and DID NOTHING?....no 911 call?..
but frankly, there is over coverage of this guy.....its a media storm and where is he going to find unbiased jurors....
I'm sick of it already...
He lived in a different town in a different state and went to a different school
Didn't know about that. I did see video where some 4-Chan types had taken a frame from the downtown food truck video and showed what appeared to be a white car with similar lines and lights to the eventual white Hyundai. This was a couple weeks after the murder and well before the Elantra was listed as a vehicle of interest. I'm having a heck of a time finding it. All I get is the body cam video from a traffic stop near the scene on the night/morning of the murders, where a white car is driving by that looks like the Hyundai.
The Marion Barry Defense: The Bitch Set Me UP!
So, in your theory he convinced a dumb criminally minded person to murder 4 people?
Kohberger (K): Hey man can you do me a solid?
Dumb Criminal (DC): like what?
K: I need you kill these 4 people, but the really important part is I want you to journal all of your emotions you feel from the time you enter the house until you leave.
DC: sounds cool but what’s in for me?
K: they might be wearing slinky night gowns?
DC: what else?
K: you get bragging rights.
DC: okay...
DC: but won’t they catch me?
K: no they’ll think that I did it. Here, use my knife.
I think this theory is a bit of a stretch. Just sayin’
“...Kohberger expects to be exonerated.”
Oh, THIS is going to be good!
You could probably build a case of reasonable doubt around twelve cell tower pings in six months. Also, my guess is Kohlberger did not bring his cell phone on the night of the murders.
“So he’s a PhD candidate in criminology and he doesn’t realize cellphones are tracked?”
LOL! He probably taped his ‘Secret Decoder Ring’ to it, thinking he was safe, then.
No kidding! All you need to do is watch a ‘Dateline’ episode to understand that you do NOT take your cellphone with you when you’re casing the joint or committing the crime! ;)
Great narrative!
Yeah. That’s it to a T
Don’t be surprised to see um use it in court
Report where his cell data was recorded going back to the murder location at 9am the next morning after the murders
“the death penalty was and should be as much of a deterrent as a “punishment””
Correct. I didn’t think of that when making the post, but it’s a major reason behind all punishments.
Good point about executions also.
I remember Trump being asked how they kept the peace somewhere where he and his father went regularly. He said that the police were tough.
Yep. This arrogant prick is going to throw away the one chance he has to plea away the death penalty.
I'll betcha he takes the stand in his defense and tries to show the judge, jury, DA and even the bailiff how intelligent he is.
Try adding dates that you saw the photo you’re looking for into your search. Change the date for your search to one day earlier if it doesn’t come up the first time.
He wants to sue the college. All that class time and study, and he couldn’t even get away with a quadruple murder. What use is his criminology major if he can’t commit the perfect crime.
throw him in a casket alive and bury him
They found it, they say, on the most obvious place to find it - the sheath of the probable murder weapon. They do’t have the knife, but the sheath is pretty good evidence.
PS: don’t forget the SBF is using “effective altruism” as his defense
