Now that Ukraine is finally getting the tanks it wants, it's already looking for the next big thing — fighter jets

Ukraine is finally getting the Western-made tanks that it wants, but there's still a few big items on its wishlist. Kyiv says the next thing it wants is fighter jets.

"We have new tasks ahead: Western-type fighter jets, sanctions, Peace Formula implementation," Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba said after Germany announced on Wednesday it would send Leopard 2 main battle tanks, a decision that followed weeks of mounting pressure by European countries.

Yuriy Sak, an advisor to the Ukrainian defense minister, concurred, telling Reuters that "the next big hurdle will now be the fighter jets." Some others, however, have pointed to long-range missiles.

Evidently I agree to the many moral things to do for America you just pointed out. I fully agree.

However, we don’t have the luxury to ignore the historical moment going on right now in Europe. The United States’ economy depends on Europe not being occupied by Russia. Russia occupied half of Europe not so long ago, and unfortunately we see their appetite for more land-grabbing is resurfacing yet again.

If Russia wins in Ukraine, it’s over for Europe. And America will be alone fighting the Russian Neo-Soviet empire. China would probably team up with Russia in such a scenario.

So we better hope Ukraine wins. It would stabilize the whole planet, and secure America’s economy for decades to come.

Fighter jets? At this time, I’d be more supportive of Ukraine getting a big batch of light attack aircraft (basically light, cheap trainers w/ guns and small missiles) to go after those Iranian drones.

Our T-6 Texan II’s, armed up a bit, would work well.

I think we were first with the nuclear weapon.

I may be wrong, but that's been my understanding for a
long time. (I looked it up, and Russia developed their
nuclear weapon four years after we did LINK)

Russian leaders have talked about Moldova, Poland, Latvia,
Estonia, Finland, and Sweden, in terms it talked about
the Ukraine before invading.

IMO < Russia took actions that reminded me of Hitler's
moves at the start of WWII.

Making the Ukraine a hard target to excel in, was a wise
thing to do, again > IMO.

Yes $100 billion is a lot of money. It is still only
0.3225% of our current national debt, but pales in light
of what a WWIII might cost the United States to wage.

Using the illegal immigration issue to game the funds we
are expending in the Ukraine forgets some major facts. We
did not reduce funding, staffing, or equipment and
infrastructure on controlling the border. Biden simply
changed our policies. "Let them in!"

I do t think there are any ‘defeated conservatives’ that want to see Putin win anything.

What those folks want is for the USA to take care of the USA. That isn’t our fight. Never has been.

Ukraine isn’t an ally. Ukraine isn’t in NATO. Ukraine is one of the most corrupt countries on the planet.

The US has its own problems. Sorry about the US.

As for Russia not being able to take more than some small border towns, all be used there fighting the US and NATO, using Ukrainian personnel as cannon fodder.

US and NATO end their support, that thing is over.

Russia will NEVER take Europe.

If they attacked Europe or a NATO ally, I would be all for crushing Russia.

But they didn’t attack Europe or a NATO ally. They attacked a country that has a significant portion of the population that identifies as Russian. A population that was treated horribly by Zelensky.

How would one of the most corrupt countries on the planet being stabilized/winning help the US? What did we get from them? Where did they rank with regards to being a significant trading partner with the US?

At one time, Ukraine was part of the USSR. Was the world not stable then?

And... you are guaranteeing a major nuclear war (that may well not even start with Russia and the US) in 50 years or less.

I have no illusions of what lies beneath Europe’s present thin veneer of soft civilization.

I’m not guaranteeing anything.

Putin isn’t going to be around much longer.

The next President of Russia could be better or worse. Either way, it isn’t our problem and we shouldn’t have give what we’ve given to Ukraine.

If we hadn’t done what we did and continue to do, the whole thing would have been over and folks would be taking their Ukraine flags off their Facebook and Twitter pages.

As I’ve stated elsewhere, while the US is giving away our money and military gear, the people really suffering are the Ukrainian people caught in the middle of this demented game.

It would be cruel to let Ukraine fight all that massive force all alone. Some help is a moral thing to do in order to protect Ukraine and prevent Russia to further invade the rest of Europe.

.............

We just lost a 30 year war with a bunch of ragheads and now you wanta be a cheerleader for NWO WEF perverts and take on 1/2 of the worlds nuclear powers. BRILLIANT ...

Taking care of the US? Absolutely. Russia is threatening to nuke us right now. It certainly in US interest to kick Russian corruption and influence out of Europe. Both economically and morally. No people should have live under boot of the genocidal mania that the Russian World brings to its colonial subjects.

Here is a self identified Russian nazi leader explaining the situation. Among other things he explains Ukraine is not a nation and why Ukrainians must be killed. Utter madness and mental delusion there. Highly educational and worth the watch.

Are we situational conservatives now? A little genocide on the side is ok as long as none of the blood gets on us? Surely, a political movement with no core believes and that stands for nothing will be nothing.

“prevent Russia to further invade the rest of Europe.”

Not getting involved in the Ukraine does not mean we would let Russia conquer Europe. That’s a ridiculous argument. No one is going to let Europe get conquered by Russia, and Russia has given no indication they intend to try.

You seem to forget this little organization called NATO that exists precisely for that reason.

Ukraine is not a NATO member. If Ukraine falls it will not affect our country in any material way, and we have no treaty with them that obligates us to anything.

That’s false. Russian state TV threatens NATO Europe on basically a daily basis.

Here’s one quote from today:

Germany has “forgotten about its historical guilt” and therefore “must be defeated”
