LILLEY: China's interference in our elections is serious, our reaction is anything but serious (Canada)

Are we a serious country? Not based on the way our government and Parliamentarians are handling the very real allegations of election interference by China.

For the past two days, MPs on the Commons Procedure and House Affairs Committee have been making partisan arguments aimed at scoring points rather than getting to the truth.

Someone needs to tell these buffoons that stopping election interference is a non-partisan issue, that it should concern all parties and all Canadians. These jokers though can’t help themselves in playing party politics.

The Liberals have been desperate to stop any further investigation into election interference, making themselves look guilty in the process. They have been opposed to the idea of a public inquiry but also opposed to producing documents related to the interference for the Commons committee to review and to having certain witnesses called.

The claim from the Liberals is that we can’t just put top-secret documents out in public. That’s not what has been called for, the actual motion from the Conservatives calls for the Law Clerk of Parliament to censor any information that would put national security at risk.

This isn’t the first time MPs have been tasked with dealing with sensitive information, but you’d think it was. You’d think, based on the Liberal reaction, that we would effectively be opening up all of our national security files for Beijing to look over.

The Liberals even opposed the push to have Justin Trudeau’s chief of staff, Katie Telford, testify. Telford is believed to be the Liberal operative that CSIS approached to warn them about concerns regarding Liberal MP, but then candidate Han Dong, in 2019.

Meanwhile, as the Liberals fight to protect their own, the NDP has put forward calls to expand the scope of electoral interference to include the 2011 and 2015 elections as well. They also want to look at Russian interference in the Freedom Convoy protests.

None of these ideas are bad things in and of themselves but they could be dealt with in separate committee hearings. Expanding the scope of this hearing to include four elections and interference from multiple countries won’t accomplish anything except watering down the focus of the committee.

Always remember how the Chicoms funded Bill Clinton.

Chinagate, Cox Report, Maria Hsia, John Huang, James Riady, Ted Sioeng, Johnny Chung (who actually posted here for a while after he confessed and repented), Liu Chaoying the PLA Colonel, Charlie Trie, et al.

Canada is lucky that China even allows their Vassal State of Canada pretend to have elections.

(Not that the US is far behind in that respect.)

...And this crap is why Princess Justine Castro knows that he can continue being Canada’s Dear Leader for just as long as it pleases him to continue playing dressup.

As long as enough votes can be ginned up in Montréal, Ottawa, and the Greater Toronto Area, the political viewpoints of anyone OUTSIDE these areas (i.e. Rural Ontario, and Western Canada) can be safely ignored.
