‘check your back seat before leaving.’ Ford must think every American has no brains.
Lawsuit protection. Every year, somebody gets left in the backseat. Safety mandates require high backed anti-whiplash seats, and Ford is trying to avoid a lawsuit about poor visibility related to an infant left behind, or maybe a regulation requiring yet another sensor. Same source for the labels warning you not to use the electric hair dryer in the bathtub.

My Caddy does that also but only if l have opened the rear door. In my case I think of it as a reminder that I put something back there when I exit the car. Actually l like it.
