So yes, she probably repeats the same speech day after day, and so does he repeat the same speech day after day. But your “job”, as the political spouse, is to pretend each time that that speech is fresh and new and worthy of your attention and appropriate response.
I suspect he was just thinking about other things, and maybe you can make the case that he is more genuine for not putting on a fake, supportive show, but he still looks like a schmuck, and a bad husband. Think of how many times SHE will respond supportively to HIS speeches.
