The survey asked respondents, “Which of these two Republicans do you think has the best chance of winning the 2024 general election for president,” giving them the option of Trump or DeSantis.
Most Republicans, 59 percent, believe Trump has the best chance of winning the presidential election, followed by 27 percent who believe DeSantis has the best chance and 13 percent who remain unsure.
A plurality of independents, 34 percent, also believe Trump has the best chance, while 23 percent said DeSantis. A plurality of independents, 43 percent, remain unsure.
Notably, over-one third of Democrats, 35 percent, believe DeSantis has a better chance than Trump, compared to 27 percent who believe Trump has the better chance. Thirty eight percent remain unsure.
Among all respondents, Trump has the edge, as 39 percent said he has the best chance to win, while 28 percent said the same of the Florida governor. Thirty-three percent remain unsure.
The survey was taken May 17-19, 2023, among 1,000 U.S. adult citizens. It has a +/- 3 percent margin of error.
It coincides with two other recent surveys which reflected similar sentiments, showing Republicans remaining more confident in Trump’s ability to win in 2024 over DeSantis. However, these were taken prior to DeSantis formally jumping into the presidential race.

A recent survey from The Economist/YouGov, for example, found 58 percent of Republicans expressing the most confidence in Trump defeating Biden, compared to 27 percent who said the same of DeSantis.

Biden’s and the LEFT’s worse nightmare is for DeSantis to beat Trump because they KNOW DeSantis is so much more electable in the General. They actually want Trump to win because in spite of the idiotic Trump cult here, the ONLY person who could lose to Biden is in fact Trump.
Pretty much any other Republican will beat Biden. And DeSantis is not only a republican, he’s a true conservative who embodies everything they are against. Including declaring war on woke.

I doubt neither Trump or DeSantis has any real chance, given the democrat weapons of mail in ballots, drop boxes and rigged voting machines. They stopped a Trump landslide and slithered away with the presidency in the dark of night.
I don’t believe DeSantis, who is backed by the GOP establishment, much like Romney was, can withstand the onslaught that will be unleashed upon him by the Media-Dem Party. We already know that Trump has taken their beating now for 8 long years, and has survived. Right now DeSantis is getting pretty easy treatment. You can bet that the Media-Dem Party has a bevy of “Me Too” women lined up to make accusations against DeSantis, and you can bet they have their lawfare teams ready with lawsuits of every conceivable sort.

I think without fraud joey cant win. And those soccer moms are going to be pissed when their schools turn into a third world country. And they will have less cash for their cocktail lunches and mani/pedis. We need to keep hammering the issues that we win on...Men playing women sports. Border security. Economy. Those are our strong points.
I think any candidate running for 2024 should steer clear of the abortion issue and kick it to states rights. Like it or not, it seems to be the safest tactic for our side.
