Bud Light only has a few months to prevent sustained market share loss, warns former Anheuser-Busch sales exec

Bud Light needs to come up with a cogent strategy to win back customers in the next few months, a former executive warned, or its market share losses could become permanent.

Come September, retailers are expected to begin reallocating the limited shelf space by relying on sales data from the preceding months.

In Bud Light’s case, that could mean a diminished presence going forward following the controversy over its brief partnership with a transgender influencer, according to Anson Frericks.

A president of sales and distribution at Budweiser’s U.S. parent Anheuser-Busch until his departure in April 2022, he told the Daily Mail that rivals like Coors Lite and Yuengling could then remain a more prominent fixture in stores following this "reset."

“Those brands will have a better likelihood to succeed long term because they have more shelf space, they have more inventory, they have more back-stock, and they have more availability for consumers," he said.

The warning by Frericks, who cofounded his own asset management firm after more than a decade at the mega-brewer, comes after data suggesting that Mexican beer Modelo Especial could supplant Bud Light this year as America’s favorite frothy brew.

Oh, there’s a lot besides Sam Adams. Current faves of my husband are Six-Point, Cigar City, Rhinegeist, and BrewDog.

Advertising tries to allay their product with the prospective customers good feelings. InBev doesn’t deserve my business and neither does anyone who tries to shove woke delusions down my, and others, throats.
If I can avoid doing business with them, I will. If not, find a replacement ASAP.

Stella Artois is a good compromise between premium beer and generic crap. I used to buy it when we hosted family get-togethers.

Unfortunately, I cannot participate in the AB boycott. I stopped drinking alcohol when I decided I didn’t want to be fat anymore.

Bud Light is crap. The only thing differentiating it from other crap like Miller and Coors was marketing. Now they market to trannies and fags. That’s who will drink it. Although that crowd prefers to drink real piss and not the brewed kind.

Bud Light is finished. Nowhere in all this situation have I heard a source saying ‘but I love Bud Light’ . It’s a cheap not very good beer, and consumers have many choices in that category. Why would anyone return to BL?

Exactly, easy to switch and believe me, any man seen drinking a Bud Light is a punching bag.

They remove a black woman from a pancake mix box and a black man from a box of rice and Anheuser-Busch sales execs thinks it’s a good idea to put a crossing fagot on a bear can.

Ain’t education just grand Moe.

It’s based out of Tampa. Large Cuban population there, at least, in the old days. Hubby’s favorite is called Fancy Papers, though it might be seasonal. The others are also mostly good. It all depends on what you like in a beer.

Modelo in the US (and only the US) isn’t AB, due to anti-trust. It’s owned by Constellation Brands under permanent license. Everywhere else, it’s AB.

Corona in the US isn’t. See my post above.

https://www.cbrands.com/collections/beer

AB bought the brewery conglomerate that produced Modelo and Corona - but could not get anti-trust approval unless they sold off those brands in the US. Constellation has those brands, a permanent IP license for use in the US and a Mexican brewery to make them with. AB kept the rest.

Or sell the brand to another company and get what they can for it before it becomes worthless. The new brand owners would need to have a very visible ad campaign in which they make it clear that Bud Light is now under new management.

“We’re the new Bud Lite” or some such slogan that sends the clear message that the brand no longer has any affiliation with the old management. Then follow up with a barrage of advertising that targets Bud Lite’s traditional customer base, once more.

Certain possible, I would imagine the terms Bud and Budweiser are probably trademarked which could make the a little more difficult to pull off.

Plus you would need a company willing to take on the negative impacts imagine the brand has at this point versus brewing and distributing a light beer of their own and not rebuilding a brand like Bud Light

Agree. However, I will not feel any sense of sadness were the brand to fail.

You are right about need to make very VISIBLE and PUBLIC apology for months. After 2-3 years, Bud just might be able to climb back up to some semblance of respectability. For now, I would not buy BudLight unless it was being VERY heavily discounted, and then I would not drink it in public.

I think many of us HAVE been paying attention to the other AB-InBev products. I certainly have stopped picking up some of those favorites of mine that I know are related to BudLight.
