You have made a stinging observation. Protecting children has become a BS excuse in the lips of politicians ("It's for the children") when kids being killed is greeted by the same "lips" with "the motive isn't clear."
Showing pics of the perp is different than showing video of him attacking children.
But I'm not sure how removing video of children being stabbed in their strollers from a public forum is an attack on free speech.
Sort of a chain of custody as in handling evidence for a criminal trial. A paper trail and password protected.

Tough to do man... I ran a forum back in the 90s and it was small potatoes compared to imagined traffic of Twitter. Close to a million posts a day/week. Ain’t no way a few people could do it!! Just saying...
