Former President Donald Trump's anger toward a single person appears to have played a key role in evidence leading to his indictment this week.
It all comes down to one person, Gen. Mark A. Milley, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, according to multiple sources.
Trump loathed the positive coverage Milley received in the press and in books. In his post-presidency period, Trump fumed about Milley, who seemed to be portrayed as a hero, while he was cast as an insurrectionist. In one story, a July 2021 New Yorker article, journalist Susan Glasser depicted Milley's efforts in the last days of the Trump administration to keep the president from attacking Iran.
The former president began to talk regularly about Milley in 2021, dismissing him and bringing up stories that made Milley seem unintelligent and untrustworthy, according to sources. They said Trump's anger about Milley led him to be cavalier about what he said about the general, their interactions and policy decisions. It frustrated some Trump aides who noticed he would veer close to classified material in conversations.
Then, Trump started to do interviews for books.
While Trump didn't speak to Bob Woodward or me for our book "Peril," he spoke to many others in 2021 at the same time he was lashing out at Milley in private. These dynamics began to collide as the former president sat down with authors, pulling out documents and memos from the White House to make his points.
And when people came by to hear Trump talk about his presidency — and often rant about Milley — Trump aides would also record the conversations, in case they ever wanted to contest what was later written.

THAT TAPE WAS RELATED TO GEN. MILLEY LYING ABOUT HIM STOPPING TRUMP FROM ATTACKING IRAN.
The audio from that July 2021 conversation at Trump’s club in Bedminster, New Jersey, includes remarks related to Iran and how to confront it militarily, two people with knowledge of the case said, requesting anonymity because they were not authorized to speak publicly on the matter.
The indictment makes reference to a July 2021 “audio-recorded meeting” with “a writer, a publisher and two members of [Trump’s] staff, none of whom possessed a security clearance,” during which Trump showed them a “plan of attack” prepared for him by “the Defense Department and a senior military official.”
He told them, according to the indictment, “the plan was ‘highly confidential’ and ‘secret’” and added, “’as president, I could have declassified it,’ and ‘Now I can’t, you know, but this is still a secret.’”
Attorneys for Trump informed the Justice Department that they’ve not been able to locate a classified document related to Iran sought by investigators that was discussed during a recorded meeting, two people with knowledge of the case confirmed to CBS News.
One person said it’s not clear if the document with the “plan of attack” exists, or if Trump was misidentifying something to those assembled for the meeting, but said prosecutors have the tape.

Why were Trump aids allowed recorders in his proximity?
Trump has a lengthy record of appointing, nominating, and embracing Deep Staters:
Steve Mnuchin, Bill Barr, Mike Pence, Mick Mulvaney, Jim Mattis, Cliff Sims, John Bolton, Christopher Wray, Gen Mark Milley, Anthony Fauci, Deborah Brix, Anthony Scaramucci, John Kelly, Michael Cohen, Gen H.R McMaster, Rex Tillerson, Alyssa Farah Griffin, Ty Cobb, Andrew McCabe, Mark Meadows etc. etc.
Presidents have long claimed the authority to classify materials by dint of the president being the nation’s chief executive and commander in chief — the only official vested under Article II of the Constitution with “the executive power.”

Milley called his counterpart in China, General Li Zuocheng, quoting Milley as saying: “I want to assure you that the American government is stable and everything is going to be okay ... We are not going to attack or conduct any kinetic operations against you ... If we’re going to attack, I’m going to call you ahead of time. It’s not going to be a surprise.”

The pussygate tape and pissgate “dossier” were fully intended to destroy him before the election. They were caught flat footed when he won and was putting Flynn in as Nat Sec advisor.
They scrambled for a plan to control him. Pence lied about Flynn and got him fired. Comey ran FBI spies against Trump. They put in deep state McMaster and others.
As far as him appointments, the Business Advisory council almost all quit immediately in the face of DC and leftist boycotts, street terror, and personal destruction for merely serving on that non partisan advisory board.
McConnell went into recess when Obama was President, but for the entire Trump administration, he kept the Senate in pro-forma session to prevent recess appointments. He let Obama have recess appointments, but not Trump. So all Trump appointees had to come from McConnell’s list.
And Trump’s campaign centerpiece was that he wanted to bring in Wall Street “killers” for trade and treaty negotiations.
But that pool dried up as anyone who worked with Trump was subject to street terrorism at home, at their office, and in restaurants, boycotts of them and their families etc. Murder was realistically not out of the question, but permanent destruction of their career was guaranteed.
The pool of possible appointees immediately dried up, and he was left with only McConnell’s approved list for any Senate confirmed position.
So he was left with a CIA and FBI spy infested White House, deep state only appointees, outright executive branch and GOP slow walking, and disobedience of his executive orders, and the constant threat from McConnell and Graham from May 2017 that the GOP would impeach and remove him for any further firings after Comey.
The fact is, that due to treason and progressive street terrorism, Trump had what I estimate to be about 33% of the power a President normally has. He had little control of things not within his immediate sight. He was not free to appoint anyone he wanted. You are foolish to pretend otherwise.
