A crowd of mostly Muslim and Ethiopian Orthodox parents wants the state’s largest school system to exempt their kids from LGBTQ content
Hundreds of parents demonstrated outside the Montgomery County Board of Education’s meeting Tuesday demanding that Maryland’s largest school district allow them to shield their children from books and lessons that contain LGBTQ+ characters.
The books that feature LGBTQ+ characters are a part of a supplemental curriculum the school system launched this academic year. It adds titles for every grade level, including kindergarten to fifth grade, where the curriculum has been the most controversial. A few months ago, a handful of parents had spoken at board meetings about the issue, but the demonstrations have expanded to hundreds. Many of them declined to speak with any media Tuesday, after organizers sent out a message instructing attendees to direct the press to speak only to a select few...
Montgomery County school officials said that Maryland state law does not permit parents to opt their children out of certain lessons, except for a specific unit on sexuality and family life in the health education curriculum.
Still, Darge, an Orthodox Christian, said he would like the option for his children to opt out of reading books with LGBTQ+ themes because those themes do not align with his family’s faith...
Darge said he knows parents from around Maryland, the District and Virginia who came out on Tuesday to support families like his. Darge said he imagines protests will keep growing if the school board stands its ground...

Maryland was essentially founded as a Catholic state. The beginning of Catholicism in the US is traced by many to Maryland.

I am alarmed that school boards across Canada are increasingly forcing or “encouraging” their schools to fly the controversial, gay and transgender pride flag during the month of June, without regard for the religious beliefs of every student, or their families.
It has been reported that further indoctrination often takes place, wherein the school requires the entire student body to come outside and gather around the LGBT Pride flag, to celebrate homosexuality, transgenderism, and other sexual identities pushed by the LGBT lobby.
The only flag that should be flown at our schools, is the Canadian flag. It is a non-controversial symbol of national unity and shared pride for our great country.
Although school officials justify flying this controversial symbol as a way to promote “inclusion”, it does the exact opposite for many children and their families. The transgender and homosexual Pride flag makes many children of Christian, Muslim, Sikh, Jewish and other faith or cultural beliefs, feel uncomfortable and unsafe at school.
There have been reports that children who, for religious reasons, object to standing in honour of the homosexual flag, often get bullied by other students, and made a spectacle of by pro-LGBT teachers and staff.

There’s that word, “mostly” again. Interesting how the LGBTQ community’s Montgomery County Board of Education is encouraging Muslim and Ethiopian Orthodox parents to unite against a common enemy.
These are very likely the same people who wouldn’t sell drugs to the “transgender” at the (North) Oakland, CA Walgreens.
