I’m close to “of a certain age” and have retrained myself to NOT pick up the phone if the caller ID is unknown or the timing is unwelcome.
If it is really important they can leave a message.
My phone rolls over to the answering machine on the first ring. I never pick it up because 9 times out of ten it’s some telemarketer’s auto-dialer anyway.
